Ben, it is my understanding Steinfeld's 959 was brought into the US without federalization. If I am not mistaken, Bill Gates was also interested in getting one federalized but never got around to doing so.

His fabled "east coast" porsche garage is just accross the street from my home in NYC, and you often see him tooling around in vintage p-cars. I have yet to see the CGT or 959 though. Probably not there.

Chris,

The last of the five 2005 GT2s built for NA and the last of the 996 GT2s went to someone in NY keep a vigil to see if Mr. Seinfeld got the last 996 GT2 built for NA it wouldn't surprise me. It is black/black.

Nick, Nick, ... Nick

If only you were as famous a "shill" for Ferrari, perhaps you could get some special attention from them. Jealous?

Your shallow attempt at character assassination reveals a certain insecurity in your blind devotion to Ferrari. Usually your comments only bash Porsche. Now you've crossed the line into slanderous, completely unsubstantiated, mean-spirited speculations of the worst sort. Didn't your mother warn you against such behavior when you were in grammar school?

Mike did you read the article he wrote regarding his visit and drive of the CGT in Germany? Not only did he sing the virtues of Porsche but went out of his way to slam all other competitor's of Porsche. That is why he gets what he wants from Porsche. I believe the last air cooled Porsche and other rare Porsche's were side aside for him by Porsche.

In my mind, that is a shill and nothing more. He made a fortune about nothing and his opinions on cars count as much. However, I did enjoy his show.

Insert Ferrari for Porsche and Italy for Germany. So, Nick, is this how you secured a 430 slot, by being a shill for Ferrari?

Just like your opinions on cars.

Welcome back Nick. We've all missed your negativity around here.

Nick,
I have to respectfully disagree with you in regard to the master of his domain Mr. Seinfeld. I think he is a Porsche nut and has had an authentic affection for them long before Porsche began helping him with his collection. It's my understanding that he has one of the worlds finest Porsche collections and I know for a fact that Porsche rewards it's loyal customers with special cars whenever they can accomodate them.

I was able to get one of the five 2005 GT2s built for NA because of a long history of Porsche purchases after contacting my zone rep. and asking for one.

When a famous automobile book author needed one of the 24 2004 GT2s and one of the 39 Flachbau's and one of the 176 97 993 turbo S cars for a photo shoot for his book last fall a Porsche PR guy gave him my name and my cars will be featured in an upcoming book. Porsche through it's reps seems to keep track of Porsche customers with rare cars or large collections. I also know of Porsche's accomodation of other large Porsche collectors as well as Seinfeld. There is a Porsche collector here in town who was built by Porsche in 1997 one of the four for the entire world 1997 993 turbo S cars with Gulf oil racing colors in appreciation for years of loyal Porsche purchases. This car was not available to the public.

In regard to the Seinfeld article about the CGT , I am curious what exactly did you find inaccurate or exaggerated? After owning one I have to agree with everything Seinfeld wrote in the article and I know you have spent quite a bit of time in a CGT and I have never heard you to have much if anything negative to say about the car?

I don't think shill is at all accurate to describe the relationship Seinfeld has with Porsche. I think mutual appreciation between collector and manufacturer might be more accurate in my humble opinion. And I have every right to be angry at Seinfeld because I had the last 996 GT2 ever built until he had a black one built after the build run was closed. At least I think he was the guy in NY who got a black one built after the run had closed. Someone was able to convince Porsche to build one more according to my possibly unreliable sources. But if it was him he deserves it.

He has at least two CGT's

I know he got the black one from the LA autoshow.

That was #1 and it was the Autoshow car. After the show closed he drove out of the building in it.

He also has another one in LA and what I believe to be a third on in NY.

It pays to be funny

As a side note. I begged and begged to get my GT3 in Gluf orange with black leather and orange stitching. I was denied.

Got to work on my standup.

If test driving worked with him the same way it did with Jay Leno, that car was probably a loaner which he subsequently gave back to Porsche. If it had edition #0000 on the console (many did), it was a factory mule used for press show and tell, not a customer car that could be sold.

I guess when Porsche says no paint-to-sample and no interior-to-sample for some models, they mean it.

Was Mr. Seinfeld able to order the same, exact car with the options you wanted, while you were not?

The Exclusive Department might have been able to do what you wanted --- but, not for free.
