better us killing them than you showing up at a track event or a cars and coffe and being the subject of substantial ridicule...Porsche owners do not tolerate posers

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm glad it ended up the way it did. But it still sucks.

well, Volder...why don't you look at this another way...you drove the car and you liked it...get it inspected to make sure it wasn't wrecked or salvaged since those miles are awfully low for a 2003...make a lowball offer and buy it...then remove the fake badging and enjoy it..

...and then wish I had got a real GT3 or Turbo? Nah. I will make a great Porsche owner, I can't do fake either.

I ran the vin on this and it came back as a normal 03 996 C2. If the OP needs me to supply him with any more info you can send me an email or contact me through a PM.

I would run away form this as fast as possible!

Already ran! Back to 996tt's I guess. There are no GT3s in my price range.

Don't worry Volder, despite the lack of involving sound the 996TT will allow you to drive 'lazy but fast' with the torque rich turbocharged version of the Mezger flat-6. You'll love it, and can get a heck of a nice one for about $45k in the current market (possibly even less). Best wishes, and I'm glad you avoided that car.

Why? It's not there on a 996 GT3, and a Carrera doesn't have a oil tank so this won't tell you anything. And for gods sake, don't put your hands in there to check while the exhaust is hot....

The oil tank on a 996 GT3 is mounted on the engine, not in the rear right fender as in older 911's.

Looking at the underside of the engine is easier since a Carrera engine will have a big sump, and the GT3 engine will not.

How did the clutch feel? Was it as heavy as a rock, or soft like the Turbos you drove? Didbthe gauges say GT3? Look for adjustable lower control arms on all 4 positions. I think the c4s came with a spare, don't think the gt3 did (not sure) look for signs of that.

I should have been more clear. You can see the tank by looking from behind the passenger side rear wheel under the bumper cover toward the engine. You can see the drain plug for the tank.
