Champion Motorsport 997.1 GT3RS Full Build: Project "Airborne Ranger".
lol I'm guessing it will be a bit of a PIA due to some extra material now that the padding is taken out from under it. 19lbs is a solid reduction though so I would say it's worth it.
Poor Vic, you seem to enjoy his misery
So did you guys remove all the foam padding? I was thinking of replacing the OEM padding with the 4.0 thinner padding but don't know how much weight it would save

Or.....you could do 10 extra sit-ups every morning and skip lunch for a week. You can easily shave off 19 pounds that way and you'd actually be saving money! LOL!!

No just kidding
all in jest.
Well, removing ALL the foam padding saved 19 pounds, so I'm not sure how much it would save to go with the thinner padding.

5 lbs, yes but not more
OK...time for some big and exciting updates!! We've touched on some of the track oriented upgrades, some weight reduction upgrades, and we've got some big suspension upgrades on the way. But the one thing I haven't mentioned is the engine.
We've seen 3.9L GT3's before, and even some 4.0's, but what we don't see all that many of are fully built, race-ready 4.2L GT3 engines...until now. Bored, stroked, built heads, full case work, new crank....you name it, it's in there. The engine is actually in the final stage of assembly right now so we should have it back in the car within the next week or so. Stay tune!
I'll update with some technical information about exactly what we upgraded, but for now, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy...

And here's some behind the scenes looks at some of the actual delicate machine work being completed.

Here's a quick and exciting update for Friday. The 4.2L race-prepped engine is all back together and ready to go back in the car. Once that's back in, we'll have a few more odds and ends to button up, then it'll be time to get some results! Stay tuned...

We also re-installed the interior carpeting (minus the heavy foam padding), the OMP steering wheel with Rennline quick-release. Things are starting to come together quickly, so hopefully I should have more frequent updates within the next couple weeks as we start to wrap this project up.
