997 Cup brakes vs 996 Cup brakes?

I'm trying to find out some specific information re the differences between the 2 setups. The situation is that I am attempting to put the 997 Cup Calipers onto a 350mm rotor. I have a wheel size restriction.

Can anyone tell me if they are the same pad or different? If they are different is the 997 Cup pad a 'taller' version of the 996 one? That is, does it cover more of the swept rotor face from outer rim of rotor towards the hub center?

I have someone making up a custom set of hats and rotors with adapters. But we are waiting on the hats to come back from the machinists before we can dummy fit everything. Does anyone see any way that this definitely won't work?
