Congrats on your purchase, the GT3 is truly an amazing car. I would also recommend on going with the clear side marker light kit. This simple install changes your amber side marker lights to a euro clear look, adding even more appeal to your GT3.

Thanks. Took the GT3 to the Ridge yesterday in Pacific NW with all day coach. More precise than the C4s and lighter. Rewards good driving skills ( keeping car balanced, throttle steering, carving turns; great brakes, using throttle to keep rear planted) and dislikes poor driver inputs... and lets you know about it. Great feedback. More track days planned locally with instruction.

Oh tell me about the "dislikes poor driver input" My Gt3 slapped me really hard first day at the track telling me "What the heck are you doing to me?!?!"

Toward the end of the day, she was much happier. The car REALLY does reward you for proper inputs going into a corner and out of a corner. I have so much to learn...

That's why I have hired coaches while I learn to drive this precision instrument the correct way.

MrChan is infamous around these parts
I got a GT2 rear sway bar (Sunco) and set the front camber to -3.0 to reduce understeer at tight turns.
Got RSS mono ***** front and rear with thrust arm bushings + control & toe arms from SharkWrecks then with 1/16" total rear toe in. Understeer is much less and steering is 2x sharper & car respond much quicker.
I will try 245 front tire next yr and i think is a must to reduce understeer at speed. I am not liking the 235 tire setup, front dose not respond when steering angle exceed a range. the .1 spring feels very soft on the track for hard use. Feels about 80lb stiffer than the stock 997S spring rate on the track. But on the street feels a lot stiffer.

Thanks for your input. I am putting those items on my wish list as I learn how the car behaves currently. Perhaps this winter will have more funds to do some, if not all of these suggestions.

Surprised to hear the top Porsche sports car understeers. Can you fit a 245 or even 255 on the front? My wife's Cayman S runs 245/275 and doesn't understeer.

I'm also interested in a 07 GT3.

Clean DME, PPI at my local shop in Seattle. Once my wife said I could start looking for my "track car"; I tried to research GT3 issues by asking questions and looking at posts on this and other forums.
Wife says I can keep my pdk C4S which I have tracked for 2 seasons at PRI and the RIDGE locally. Have done the ridge 4 times now on R888 on 18 inch Forgestars I got locally from a rennlister.
Had great discussions with GT3 owners while at PSDS in April (xmas present)
Will have water wetter for now and then in winter perhaps do the coolant fittings welding, LSD, clutch upgrade, shifter cup cables, LWFW,5th gear pinion mod for more usability, etc. Then roll bar, grill inserts, DRLs

meanwhile rennline pedals, clearplex windscreen and clear side markers.
First track days for this silver beauty is 8/26 and 9/8 at the ridge and PRI with full time coaching (even though can solo). Wife says no need to drive her manual Boxster anymore.
Congrats on the purchase. LSD is a must, when replacing the flywheel, also change the pulley for the RS pulley.
If you plan to drive the car on the street, no reason why you should change to cup car cables and shifter, they transfer a lot of vibration and noise to the cabin.
By 5th gear gear pinion, do you mean 4.0 Ring and Pinion ?
Make sure the car has proper alignment and set up.

Enjoy !

Right now I am getting a feeling for it with stock setup. This winter i plan to get the coolant fittings welded( running water wetter now) will look at doing at the same time when the engine is out, guard diff, clutch, lwfw, shifter cable mods. May not do the 4.0 gear pinion mod.
Getting grill screens, rss center bypass,FVD DRLs tomorrow. On the track sat at pacific raceways. 1st time there with this gt3. Have been 8 or so times with my c4s pdk sport plus and soloed off.. Different animals to be sure. Which is why I have requested an instructor in this new for me shifting experience.left foot getting busy

Was at the ridge 8/26. My well respected instructor who has cup car experience thought it was setup pretty well and needed no drastic changes yet. Will have him again half day at the ridge 9/29. Then the rainy season begins in Seattle.
Before then rollbar,gt2 seats, schroth 6pt, and necksgen get incorporated in this wonderful exciting car. The c4s seems less fun to drive now.

My Prius commuter becomes less fun to drive. I bet yor C4S is more fun

I have list of things to do on my .2 GT3 as well. But im using 20% of the car's ability. I should get a full day of coaching like you did.

But with the price of gas Kormaster your Prius seems wise. 40+ days of no rain in Seattle is getting close to a record here. May end early next week. Should hit 90 today (rare). Coaching like any sport allows you to practice the right way when you are solo. I have seen how some coming to a new track like the Ridge struggle learning the track on their own. I know it is an added expense but even a few sessions with the pro can help you be better and in a safe way. I also find GoPro videos are good tools for reference for the proper line. I get much more out of watching my own videos than others IMO. I also try to record the conversation between me and my instructor with a digital recorder and mic in my helmet because it is usually very noisy and in a good way.

You would be surprised, that Porsche is a very smart company, and those cars are EXTREMELY capable in stock form. Spend the least amount of money possible on mods, and invest on a coach, makes the learning curve a lot steeper and pleasurable, and the best factor is that is the kind of 'mod' you can transfer to your next car.
