Transmission rattle in neutral at idle

On my 2007 997.1 GT3, I noticed a quiet noise that seems to come from transmission idle at neutral.

I have to listen carefully but there seems to be a quiet rattle coming from transmission when in neutral and clutch pedal is out. You have to listen carefully to hear it but it seems like I can feel it on the gear lever that matches and is in sync with the noise, but it is very minor. Once I push in clutch pedal and/or when I am in any gear, there is no noise. Car shifts and runs very smoothly.

My car is stock and has about 21,000 miles.

Anyone experience this in their GT3? I do frequent track days and want to know if I should be concerned.

Check with the previous owner... its common to replace the daul mass flywheel with a light weight RS type and these will rattle at idle like you discribe. If this is the case don't worry but if you can confirm its the standard daul mass flywheel fitted get it checked out by a dealer/specialist as something may be starting to let go...

cheers

Puntograle is infamous around these parts
Yes, sounds like a single mass fly wheel hopefully. My RS does that too. Technically it is an upgrade from the standard dual mass and allows the engine to rev up more freely...useful for heel 'n toe!
