looking for non squeaking brake pads
my 997 GT3 needs new brake pads for the street. SInce I purhcased the car off my buddy, the brakes have always squealed. I thouhg it was just inherent in the GT3 pad but now realize that the rotors are grooved and that's what's probably causing the noise.
That being said, I hae a new set of rotors in the garage and want to mate them to some pads that won't squeal. Not worried about tracking the car as when it does get to the track, Ill just switch them out. Need a good street pad that won't squeal.
Will the stock GT3 pad do the job or should I toss in the turbo pads and will they even work? Afraid that they may be a bit thick. Aftermarket pad recommendations welcome also.
I've always been a fan of PFC's

I have found the stock front pads (and rotors) to be sufficient for me on street and track. For the rear I simply switched to "Sport Pad (red)" instead of the OEM "Comfort (black)". Both make no noise whatsoever and they work plenty fine for our short NorCal tracks where top speeds (and slowdowns to tight corners) aren't that high as compared to some of the East Coast/Florida tracks... We also have cooler temps here in general which all plays into the effectiveness and life-expectancy of the pads.
No squeaking, promise :-), No scraping, no nothing and I like it that way driving around in the mountains... The OEM set-up on the 2010/11 GT3's is meant to be "compliant". PS: And yes, I have a 2011 GT3 :-)
lucky man.. People give me this weird look when they squeak.. this look that says "can't you afford new brake pads on such a car?"
Wash your brakes.....
They'll stop squeaking.
Mine last 4-5 days, then off to the car wash to power wash the rotors. Works like a charm.
It's the price you pay if you want phenom brakes that can take the abuse of endurance track-work and use it as a daily driver. Yes, the squeal can be awful.

That's not it. It's not about washing the brakes. they are clean and have outside edge that is causing the squeal.
I'm going to change out the rotors tomorrow and from what I hear, the GT3 squeal even when new. If that's the case, then I want a softer pad for the street.
I'll change it out when the car sees the track.

No noise on my 07 gt3 PCCBs with OEM pads. Have put on 4K miles since I got the car last August and have gone 7 track days so far with it. Eventually will change to steel when rotors are done.
Sorry; not sure. Do know I have only a few mm of taper on the front pads lower aspect and I am good to go for two upcoming track days this Fri, Monday at the Ridge. Will get brake flush, new pads likely after that. Can ask my indy guy what pads he likes. I do know the bedding process is important, however.
Breaks often squeek because of the vibration of the pads; have you tried the cheap-o break squeek grease from Auto Zone? It's applied to the back of the pads, where they're touching the caliper.
Let us know if you find something that works.....
