brake wear sensors

Hi
My brake wear sensors are tied away but at the track, after a few laps I would get brake wear warnings.
Is it due to the heat? What should I cover the sensors with?
Thanks

Why don't you take them off completely? They're kind of worthless due to the "tapering" wear of the 7.2 GT3's brake pads, esp. in the front and when you do get the low pad warning, it's too late, i.e. you're down to the metal...
I just check the pads visually and replace them with around about 3mm left.
Or leave them connected (not tied up) and they shouldn't give you a false warning.

I had that too.
The warning is coming on because the circuit in one of the sensors is being opened. There are several possible causes with one of the most likely being that one of the tied off ends (the part that would usually be inserted in the pad is crumbling or loose causing the sensor to indicate wear.
The easy thing to do is just cut off that end with snips and twist the wires together.
No more warnings.

I took the brake sensor plug and cut the wires from it about 1" long and soldered them together and heat shrink wrapped them. They have been this way for 4 years and 2 cars...zero issues with the light coming on.

I did twist and shrink wrap instead of solder.
(It hadn't occurred to me to solder.)
Also zero issues.

The guys using "the computer" to go around the track fast won't have any rear brake pads unless they are checking/replacing them regularly.

I hope that someone is learning proper driving technique otherwise the tracks will fill with X-Box/Playstation players where there are no penalties for bad choices.
