Thicker Steering Wheel for '11 GT3?

What are the best options for a thicker steering wheel for my 2011 GT3? I would like to stay with the alcantara, but wouldn't mind a mix of leather and alcantara, either. The factory wheel just seems a bit skinny for my taste. Even my Ford Raptor seems to have a better feeling wheel in some ways.

Thank you for your help.

Charles

I bought a .1 sport wheel (just a regular one) and sent it to Dallas Steering wheel for a recover and thicker pad. Looks great, feels great. You can do that or find the ellusive sport alcantara wheel they offered for the .2 gt3

Same complaint... Skinny and hard. I have spoken with Dallas SW and they have many options. Seems they are the vendor of choice. They did tell me the amount of thickness is limited on our wheels.

Don Le at Dallas Customer Steering Wheel. Sent my well worn .1RS to them for the following:
1. Make thicker
2. Half black perf leather (at 9 and 3 o'clock positions)
3. Half matching black Alcantara (at 12 and 6 o'clock positions)
4. Yellow stripe at 12 o'clock
5. Viper Green stitching
Very satisfied with finished product!

Do any of you have pictures you can share? And turn-around time?

~$450 for the wheel recover, added padding and return shipping. You can remove your wheel and send it to Don (like I did), or for a fee he can use a wheel they have and do a core return when you receive. That's faster, but I believe pricier.

Very nice! I'm assuming it's a noticeable difference from stock?

Yes - even more so because the stock was leather! Previous owner must have worn lots of rings (or had very acidic hands). The leather was wearing and felt gross / looked bad.

I opted for the 1/16" padding. I think it feels great. You may want the 1/8" though. Ask on rennlist too - those folks have some pics of the 1/8" padding.

Can i ask if that red stripe on 12 o'clock position on your wheel is alcantara?

Don does great work. Used him three times (two wheels, one shift ****). Very professional. Turnaround will depend on how busy he is but its quick (week at worst). Luckily for me he's local.

The work don did for me is identical but I went with 1/8 pad which makes the wheel just under 4.5" circumference at the bottom. Stock non xpa wheel is about 4". Also went with yellow stripe and XXXX pattern stitching in drk grey to match other stitching. Wheel he did is identical to .1rs in thick pad. Looks and feels great. Like it much better than the xpa leather sport wheel.
