GT3: great track car, wonderful feeling of 73S: agile, light and small feeling even tho' it's 3049 #. car must be kept high in rev.s - on the cam we used to say for 70S's - to have good power. if you live in the mountians as i do, it means running above 6000 rpm. sound is great. a super car at a bargain price.
GT2: great all around town and country super car. the massive torque allows you to cruise a gear high and produces amazing flexibility reletaive to GT3. in the mountains the torque makes you much quicker uphill. car does feel heavier than GT3, by more than the 125# actual. brakes even better than steel GT3, pwer incredible and i prefer the look. an incredible performance bargain at today's market prices.
these 2 cars typify Porsche to me and keep the greatness going

both these cars are fabulous, but for my daily canyon pounding i prefer the 2 as uphill torque is king.
Hey Watt, don't forget about your "teammate" here on the East Coast. I would be more than happy to break-in any number of GT2s & GT3s that you have. Just let me know when & pick me up at the airport.
Yeah it seems like the good guys (with cars) are here, which makes ita good place to hangout.
I get a bit tired of people who never even sat in a 911, let alone a GT2, spouting off about what they are like to drive. The internet can be so full of crap sometimes, with people posting stuff 'they've heard' from people who haven't got a clue.
Real owners with real experiences is what makes a good board. Genuine knowledgable non-owner enthusiasts can also a real asset.........
As for the GT2, whilst I love and respect the GT3, I've never heard of anyone who sold a GT2 to buy a GT3, enough said really.
It's a shame that Porsche have not promoted the '04 GT2 in the way they promoted the GT3 Mk2, I've never even seen a road-test of one. A German magazine tested an '04 and it did 0-200kp (124mph) in 11.8 seconds, which is a pretty damn fast......

Wheels
Watt,
Out of interest I did a calculation on the effect of the lightened wheels on the rotational inertia of the wheel/tire combo and it's relative effects on rotational acceleration as part of the overall acceleration for a GT2.
Basically, the 34lbs you saved from the wheels, is equivalent to about 100lbs saved off the weight of the vehicle in terms of the effect on acceleration.

thanks Guy,
i lost 6 lbs last 2 weeks , or made my wheels 2 lbs lighter!
BTW, i sold my SY GT2 and bought my artic Gt3 - the only known case of human selling 2 for 3. of course i then sold the 3 to buy my current slate 2... so maybe it doesnt count!!!
