Techart, overall I agree with most of your post. Except for this one point - there will be 1250 CGTs made, not 1500.

 

I think 325-350 k is gonna be the absolute lowest these cars will go for over the next year or so.

we need to remember that the "new" cars at dealers are backed by the finances of the given dealer and Porsche with incentives and overheads coming into play so to see a car that was originally 448300k go for 375-400 is not a huge stretch of the imagination, more like a 10-12% losss, not uncomon at all in the car biz trust me.

now, speaking for private owners looking to sell or determine value, that will be largely based on limiting factors like colors mileage and condition. I do not see anyone having a car that dips to 50% original value in just a couple years. these aren't exactly daily drivers.

I would not worry about loss of value at all, just glad I am not one of the very fist guys who paid the 100-250k premium over window. I know of one owner who paid 750k for his. quite frankly, he could care less. He has since picked up another one at 428k and an Enzo at 1.1 mil

 

You can't predict the market price a year from now, because most of these low-price cars are dealers with pressure to sell them. Once they are owned by real people, the pressure to sell will not be there. The second-hand market will be interesting, but I don't think the car's value will tank that bad.

If I were interested in buying one, I would try to get one in the 350-400 range within the next 6 months. After that, I can't predict what the price will do.

 

Ray...that's quite a collection you have there. You could open up your own dealer once you get a few more models..

 

Is there a visual difference between the GT2 2003, 2004, 2005?

 

2005 has the CF wing, maybe some of the 2004's. Other than that visually, no. I do believe the 2005,2004 model's suspension is tweaked and they have more hp due to a different ecu map...

 

The carbon fibre on the 04 and 05 GT2s was an option. I orderd both my 04 and 05s without the carbon.

The 24 2004 GT2s and the 5 2005 GT2s did indeed have a remapped ECU. However with the extra HP Porsche added internal durability to the engine in the form of upgraded pistons, rings and clyinder liners. The suspension settings were changed and the ride is softer than the 02 and 03 GT2s. I have heard differing accounts as to whether the springs and shocks are the same as on the previous GT2s.

And by the way you can't feel the extra HP in terms of a seat of the pants feeling.

Visually a 2004 or 2005 GT2 will have different wheels and external carbon if the owner desires. The first three 2005 GT2s built were produced in Carrera GT silver, the fourth my car was produced in arctic silver. My car was supposed to be the last 05 GT 2 built until a collector out of NY had a black one built for himself.

In terms of the CGT value. It is the finest car I have ever owned and don't plan on selling it. The CGT has all the HP I could ever want for the street and I enjoy being able to take the tops off on a nice day and listen to the radio while driving. Both of which are difficult to do on the F40 and Enzo. LOL

A dealer here just sold a new 05 for $398, have patience men, its moving more friendly for buyers than sellers.
