Validity of a 12K hub rebuild GT3
Validity of a 12K hub rebuild GT3
I am speaking with a dealer (claims to do things by the book, the Porsche book) that says Porsche always recommends a hub rebuild at 15K miles on GT3's The car has 14K for miles. Over kill? Smart? thoughts? Asking because it's being factored into the selling price of the car. Thanks..

If a 5 lug car, that's nutty unless all 15k of those miles were on track.
If we are talking a center lock car, Porsche has issued clear guidelines on when to replace critical components. Their recommendation is 4k for rear; 8k for front (from memory). For clarity, this recommendation is based on TRACK MILES. Not canyon driving, not spirited driving, 100% on track.
If your dealer is telling you that this repair is "by the book", ask him to show you the book. I call BS.

If the 15,000 miles are track miles with sticky tires yes do it. If not they are just trying to create work for themselves. Unless the recall hasn't been done...that applied to 2010's.
As has been said ask for the spec in print from Porsche. My 2010 GT3 sold at 14,700 mi. and there was no mention of hubs. Of course it had maybe 20 laps at Mid-Ohio. Hope to beat that record with the new car or face a flogging from my friends.
