F430 vs GT2 -- in the real world.....and the winner is?
Hey Jack. It looks like this thread grew a bit since I last came by!
Here's what my computer says for a few races against the 430 using the fastest specs Car and Driver published for the European 430:
430 vs Z06:
Z06 ahead from 0 to 120 MPH with 1 car between Z06 and 430.
430 vs CS, Gallardo, GT3 and 996TT:
430 ahead from 0-130 MPH (in 430) with 9 cars between the 430 and the other cars (other cars going 120 MPH)
Now, Jack, YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE I TRUST! Can you confirm that the 430 will really do that against a Z06 and these other cars?? The first C&D test with the European 430 says it will. All subsequent C&D tests with the US version say no!
Also, let's be fair with the gas and ECU training. Be sure both cars have the same gas and you do several acceleration runs before the actual race. This makes a big difference, especially for the GT2!
BTW, if the 430 is really this fast, there will only be 4 cars between the CGT and 430 when the CGT is going 130 MPH and the 430 is going 120 MPH. NOW IS THAT REALLY TRUE?

Paul,
LOL So you're the guy that prepared the current 'spin' for George W.

Post more PICS? That's asking a lot, but for you...... how about five more.
As someone already mentioned, I'm a real photo slot -- so be cautious with any encouragement.

I appreciate the trust and feel the love, but I have no idea what the 430 will do vis a vis the other cars.
The GT2 was using a 100 octane racing gas blend and the ECU was trained to be a good (fast) boy. As I said, we were a bit surprised by the fact that the 430 and GT2 were neck and neck given how fast this GT2 feels and actually IS. However, we did repeat the run several times, FWIW.
I doubt we will be doing any 0-Whatever speed tests, since neither of us will be dumping/abusing our clutch to achieve a 'quality' standing start. We will most likely do the CGT, CS, Andial 3.8 and 430 high speed rolling tests, since those cars are readily available in our collective stables. As for the Z, we've got to find someone willing to supply the car. We are in the process of attempting to rent a local airport runway.

As for the 430 and CS on the acceleration front, I can guarantee that the 430 is significantly faster, but we will still have fun doing our stupid test. I did find this post/comments by Allanlambo about the 430's acceleration prowess somewhat interesting, especially given his self-confessed disdain for all things Ferrari.

QUOTE :
"Esprit vs 430 F1
Last night i had a chance to do some racing against my buddies 430. Keep in mind 20 minutes earlier on the highway i raced a previous model Z06 and from a roll of approx 60mph to about 130mph i pulled 3-4 cars on him in the Esprit. A couple weeks ago in Malibu I raced a 996TT that had some mods (atleast exhaust) and beat that pretty well also. In Az I raced my buddies E-Gear Gallardo and from a 30mph roll to about 130mph, his front bumper ended up being at my door.
Now we all know how I feel about Ferraris, but in virtually the same race as in the Gallardo his 430 killed me. 30mph roll on, to 130mph, and the 430 walked me by id say 4 maybe 5 cars. I was shocked, car hauls ***!" UNQUOTE

i definitely will order the working man's 430 CS if it happens, i hope it improves the butt ugly butt on the 430... for 190k, you should deserve a better looking car
the functionality of the 430 is great, but the looks are embarassing. to each his own

Like you said, to each his own, I wonder how many agree with the above. I personally think the 430 is very nice looking, and gets better looking every time I drive it.

car looks great Jack. Hope you use it on the track...
It took me my first track day this year to realize that these cars are a waste unless driven in their intended environment. Obviously not the street when you consider the law and other road idiots/obstacles. Beautiful car.
One question. Can a 6'6" guy fit in a Ferrari ? I would luv to know so it would be one less worry I have in my life.

Hi Bill,
As for the Z, we've got to find someone willing to supply the car. We are in the process of attempting to rent a local airport runway.
Alright Jack. You find the runway and I will be there. Not seven in the morning though.

The interior of that 430 is AWESOME. Almost too much but just right. I like the *** end also it is the front vents that look weird to me. Too big or something. Car is beautiful but If I were designing it I would tweak the fron some. More 550 ish or something. Awesome car.
