Need better seats for track...What to get???
After another weekend at the track sliding all over the stock U.S. GT3 seat I am going to change to a more supportive "track" seat. As a "big" guy (210 lbs.) I what a seat that will fit me. Park Place has a add for Euro GT3 seats for $1375 (good price?) but how wide are they between the bolsters? Do any of the aftermarket, Sparco, ect. fit the stock seat rails? I am useing a BK harness bar with 6 point belts. Any thoughts/suggestions will HELP.

GT3 seats can be tight. I'm a 36" waist and they are snug on the hips. Looser than when I first got them due to break in. If your > 38" in the hips, I would consider another seat. If your back is really broad, that will be another concern for you with GT3 seats...

I might be mistaken but I think RUF offers the GT3 bucket seats in a bigger size. Personally, as another "big" guy, I like the fit of the GT3 bucket seats. Best bet is for you to try sitting in one before and seeing if they suit you before you buy.

I think Penski in Scottsdae has the seats sitting in the dealer. They were there a couple of weeks back. I have the Porsche eruo and they are great. I have a fat a$$ and I fit fine. No extra room.
If you re going to track it is a great upgrade. You can think about driving and not how to pin yourself in as to not slide around in the seat. You will what to get a harness next and of course a roll bar. And then, and then, and then............. until you die.

As Super D was trying to explain.....a harness with just a bar and no other rollover protection is a serious safety risk because unlike a stock shoulder belt, the harness belts prevent any motion of your torso so if the roof collapses over your head, your head and neck have no place to go. The harnesses hold you upright in the seat and you get crushed as well. Stock belts actually allow you to slump forward more and prevent this. I would not install rigid race seats & race harnesses without a rollbar for track use.
You may also have trouble finding instructors who will ride in a car with harnesses and no rollbar. I know I wouldn't get in it. There is an argument that you are safer in all other inpacts with the harness bar and harnesses vs OE belts, but the gamble of a roll-over is just too high for this to be offset.
That all said. The Momo Nascar model seat is ideal for larger drivers. All the seat makers list demension specs on their websites if you look around you will get an idea of what size various seats are.
