Owned Porsches for 45 years a getting s little tired the BS...
My first Porsche was a 1971 911T, I was stationed in Germany in the Army and picked the car up in Stuttgart at the factory. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Over the years I have marveled that Porsche was able to develop a car that performed so well with the engine position the would be sub optimal.
Over the past few years I have become increasing annoyed with the difficulty buying the car Porsche has decided to make certain models available to a select few. Unfortunately I was not in a position to buy a 918 so that automatically made it almost impossible to easily purchase a GT4, a 911R and possibly the new 991.2 GT3. I have to say that part of my problem is I am addicted to manual gear boxes and these cars, if my mind, are the state of the art for Porsche (except for the Carrera GT). It has become increasing frustrating not to be able to just pluck down the money for the desired model without having had the qualifying purchase of a 918. I've had several Ferraris along the way and got tired dealing with the usual BS that Ferrari puts occasional buyer through with their cars.
Of course Ferraris aren't Porsches (thank god) and I felt I could always get my "rocks off" getting the Porsche car I wanted without the dealer BS I found with Ferrari. Now it's back with Porsche and I don't like it.
Sorry for the rant but I'm sure there are other Porschephiles out there that feel the same way I do. Just letting of a little steam.

unfortunately, its supply and demand... WIth "fewer" cars available than people with the means to afford them, it will continue to happen.. It sucks. You gotta have so much money to **** away on a premium just to have one of these cars.
My dad passed up on buying a 918 and look what it ends up "costing" him...
the opportunity to buy the 911R which was bringing almost a $3-400K premium + the value of the 918 over sticker (another $800k-1mil). Really hate it, but I guess thats the motivation to make a ****load of $$$.

Nothing odd about it, if you can afford a 918, you can afford a lot of other cars Porsche puts out. Porsche is choosing money over loyalty. Sounds fock up but that is a good business reason.
I agree 100%. buy yourself a 991.1GT3RS and send it to BGB in Florida for a manual conversion. BETTER car than a 911R hands down and unique. athats what I did. look below and feel free to comment. F Porsche and the games, build what you like.

tahts awesome.. hardware is probably a pretty easy task. Would love to know what they do with the necessary software concerns. Ive done this on many older bmws, but the new software stuff gets nasty.
got sick of the stupid dealer games and allocation BS.
Thanks, Hardware took some time but very achievable, bunch of little stuff. The software is where I leave it to the pro's. BGB has their people who the deal with. once the actual programming comes up I'll post up some more info.
