Closing the garage does not matter. They chew through the seals at the base. Get a cat.

Expensive mouse trap. I'd look for a cheaper and more effective trap.

I bet that rat was trying to hotwire the car. Good thing he was caught before he drove off.

Two simple things I've found to deter rodents. 1) Moth ***** - put a handful in a section of women's nylon stocking, and shove it into an area they would use to make a nest. 2) Bounce fabric softner sheets. These can be stuffed into even smaller areas. I think the smell of both of these items drives them off.

Not 100% foolproof, but better than nothing.

My buddy is a Japanese car mechanic. About every time I stop by to say hello he shows me a car with either: mice crap, a nest, or chewed wires.

I think they like the warmth of the engine bay and decide to move it. Plus, being as their teeth always grow, they have to constantly chew to keep them filed down...hence the problem.

I was in my attic stringing some new coax the other day and found one romex that had been partially chewed on......just barely through the outter insulation. However, I did find a big *** rat (dead) up there too as I poisioned a month back or so. I think i got him. lol

I put rat poison/bait under my cars in storage. I haven't had one die inside the car, but I've seen several dead ones around the car.

i leave rat poison around the house's exterior, in the garage too. i'd put some moth ball too but the smell in a confined garage would be too nasty for anyone to hang around there.

I have a friend that actually had a CAT crawl up onto the top of the engine of his Suburban and sleep there all night because the engine was warm. The cat was apparently sleeping between the intake manifold and valve cover. When he got in the car, the cat woke up, panicked and tried to get out of the engine bay via the front. Unfortunately, the cat got hung up in the fan and belts as the car was started.

EEWWWWW!!!

Yeah. There were fried cat guts all over the place. The smell of dead cat lingered around the car for weeks. When he got out of the car you could smell it and it even got in the a/c ducts too and you could smell it inside the car.
