The fact that you call it a widow-maker shows your lack of understanding about the car. I don't know how much seat time you have had in one, but it doesn't seem like you've ever owned one.
hmmm....
I took my stage IV 3100 lb GT2 out for a spin today. What did I do? Make sure it is pointed straight before it hits 1.2 bar!!!! 1st gear useless, 2nd gear, hold on, throttle to the floor, keep it straight, don't lift and shift at 7000, 3rd gear same as 2nd, 4th it gets easier as the tires don't break loose....... shift at 7000, 5th still pulling like an SOB, oh ****, I am going 160mph......
Your heart is racing, you catch your breath and you do it again!!!!!!

Could be me since the fastest car I have owned is an M3 with no more than 370hp but I think the GT2 craves for respect from the driver...
[quote=hesperus]um, ok... what WOULDN'T you do?
Craig Stanton gave me a great tip.......
Imagine a string tied to the bottom of the steering wheel to the throttle. As you turn the wheel the string lifts the throttle limiting the travel of the throttle.
Also, short shift at 4k or so, there is plenty of torque to play with.

I know it's not the purpose of this car, but now with so much power, do you have any curiosity of what it'd be like at top speed? As in, on the salt? I would.
What are you putting down to the rear wheels now and what's the weight down to?
Interesting thread. I may feel a little different than most. I find the car wonderful to drive, but you just need to respect it, and don't "over" drive it. Having spent a lot of time in modified 930s with big turbos and way too much lag, with inferior torsion bar suspension, the GT2 seems much more planted and predicable. Trailing throttle oversteer isn't that much of an issue.
related question
actually, I am in the proccess of looking for one of these bad boys. Do any of you even think about using the GT2 as an "ever-other-day" driver? I can't imagine having the car and not driving it.
Also, during my search, i've noticed a lot of GT2s that are 3 to 4 years old with like under 4,000 miles. Isn't that actually bad for the car? Just sitting there and not being used?
