Has anyone had the thermostat replaced on a 997.1 GT3 RS? Mine has failed and the price to replace from the local dealer seems extraordinarily high - the part is only a few hundred dollars, but the labor cost is off the charts.

Does anyone have experience with this at a dealer? Would be very interested to know the cost and number of hours.

Yep, that’s a pricey one at the dealer. The thermostat itself is cheap, but access on the 997.1 GT3 RS is tight, so labor adds up fast usually around 5–7 hours.Many owners have had better luck with a good independent Porsche shop, cutting the bill nearly in half. The dealer quote isn’t unusual, just painful. Get a second estimate before pulling the trigger.
