I am gonna do muffler bypass pipes when I get the car. However, for Scca you can not do cat bypass pipes in T1 so I will have to leave the cats in. But cat and muffler bypass pipes on a GT3 would be AWESOME!

testdrv321 is infamous around these parts
I have the muffler bypasses and they are loud for the street, but there are alot of people who do street drive with them. I have a set of cat bypasses on the way. I understand that even with fabspeed mufflers the cat bypass makes it very loud. As I only track the car, I am going to give a shot with no mufflers and no cats.

BTW, I recall that one of the guys with muffler bypasses (only) was blackflagged at Laguna Seca, too loud. Their limit is 93 db, I believe.

I can see by this thread that lots of folks like LOUD cars. Not for me. The SWEET scream of the GT3 as it moves through 6000 rpm to 8200 is more than enough to bring a smile to my face.

Yea man, its decieving in these cars to hear how loug they really are, my coldstart scares people away LOL, and like i said, my friend who track's, owns a shop and numerous track cars said yo there's no way you'll be able to track, your car is WAY TOO LOUD, im like what?!? Listen to all of these Viper's (We were with the viper crew sunday) he's like your's is way louder. Its because the engine is int he rear and you hear half of the sound that really comes out lol, i love it. The performance diff. since im turbo'd and the turbo's spooling every tap of the throttle is insane.

I have no idea how you guys do it in these NA car's, they must be WAY louder then mine?!?

We have muffler bypass pipes already on the 993 and it is loud, but we have never been rejected from a track event because of the noise level. Cup cars can drive at most tracks and they are very loud. My 944 has cat bypass pipes and a very small muffler and I have also NEVER been turned down.

Don't put the catbypasses on there. I'm surprised Luis didn't chime in here. They're obnoxious on the NA cars. Turbos are a completely different exhaust animal. Don't do it. It changes the the tone and volume considerably. Return them before you have to sell them used and take the hit. Get some high flow cats instead. Hear me now, believe my later. Already went down this road. I was shocked at how "over the top" loud they are.

Dude, I posted 3 times on this thread. I heard cat bypasses with stock mufflers & headers on a GT3 and it sounded nothing like yout car.
Depdogs SC 996 has Cargraphic mufflers and Suncoast headers. He asked me to pick up his car at the dealer after having the cat bypasses installed. After driving the car 5 minutes, I decided to bring it back to the dealer as Mrs.Depdog would have been pretty surprised (in a bad way) how loud and obnoxious the car sounded. My 993 had cat bypasses and sounded great. This was a whole different sound. There was no way to "keep it quiet" if you wanted to, above 3k it was glass shattering. There is a thread on the 996 section with a couple of other guys's similar sentiments.

If the bypasses prove to be too loud I'll just put the cats back on. No big deal.

so you're saying the gt3 motor is quieter than the 3.6 motor with catbypasses? you need to take those rose colored glasses off for a minute

whatever. there going to be loud as **** on any 996 car no matter what mods you have on there. if the GT3 with factory mufflers is as loud as my 996 with with the cargraphics on there, it's going to be just as obnoxious on the 3.8. if they sound so great, go put a set on your car. they're cheap as hell. go for it. i'll help you put them on.

They will be loud for sure, I just don't think they will be as loud as your combo. I am looking for a soundclip. Ill post it if I find it.
