Internal trunk opener delete?

I was looking around our GT3 for some usless weight and noticed a red lever in the trunk and pulled it and it looks to be a little eletrict switch which opens the trunk from the inside if someone got stuck in there. I was just wondering if anyone has taken this out or know if it has any significant weight.

required by law, if it's like any other car I doubt it weighs anything worth taking out, just a cable.

The only reason I was wondering is because it is not a manual opener. For what ever reason it is eletronic and eletric motors tend to be heavy. But it could still be too small to matter.

thats going to make no difference in performance. there is so much more you can do to save weight on the car before you start getting to things this tiny.

Doesn't it utilize the same motor as the regular trunk opener? Sounds like a bad deletion to me.

Yea, Heh that makes sense to me. I wish I would have thought of that before I asked. Seems pretty obvious.
