That's the beauty of these cars...I'm not sure they ever can be tamed, especially the 2. Fun for life, imo...

Grussell,

Why don't you do that first? Maybe that's already on your mind!

I am a track guy and I like the normally aspirated GT3 , especially the more agressive RS. It is definitely a very cool track car! My GT2 has so much more power, but is still a turbo- power is not as linear.
After serious consideration and seeing the new 997 GT3s in person,
I've decided the GT2 is a keeper for the following reasons:

1.I love the challenge of conquering the GT2 on the track.
2.I am addicted to the power output of the car. I am sure I will miss that
if I sell it.
3.Even though the GT3 has a more updated look, I still personally like the aggressive and wider look of a GT2s. Maybe the new GT2s will be appealing to me.
4.I bought the car pre-owned, so someone else already took the hit. We are all excited about the GT3s because Porsche has done a great job in pre- sales marketing, but after the first year.... we will see more of them around, just like the Turbos..

Anyway, if any of you had made a move to sell your GT2s to get the GT3s, have fun w/ your new rides!

I am sure some of you will give me the following advice:

Get a GT3 RS and keep the GT2!
Many of the same reasons I keep mine - certain sense of accomplishment driving the GT-2 on the track (even though for most regards, I think the GT-3 would turn faster lap times, unless in the hands of a experienced pro who wants to drive the car; I know a few that hate the 2). (FWIW - GT-3 RS also on order.)

A few of your points are why im leaning towards a few sick GT2's and not the 997 GT3, one would be the big hit in the first few months from a nicely optioned 997 GT3, and the power i would miss!

As much as i thought my 996TT was close to a GT2, i was sadly mistaken. The car is TOTALLY different, an absolute thrilling animal, tough deicison but either one will be amazing

I am in the same position as you. I have a 2003 GT2 and a spot for a RS and have been back and forth on what to do. I am waiting to see what the RS is like before I commit one way or the other (my wife's advice was get the RS then decide). Like you I am a track guy, but I have gone with a full time track car and a street car. Greatful to be in this position.

Enjoy your GT2 and hope to see you at the track sometime in SoCal.

If I was in your position, I'd Keep your GT2, still get the RS because if you don't like it, you'll be able to flip it over for more than you paid, but if you love it, then you can just keep both and turn the RS into a track car, or if you want more track time...run both cars in different groups

Flynduc,

I do some private days at WS with small group (Jack from LA), also do some private test days there. Otherwise I am hitting the Club races for POC, PCA and PRC.

I think we have some common friends at GMG!

John,

Are you going to be at the December POC event at WSIR?

G,

Won't make that, my new car has been released for shipping but most likely will not get to me until the week after. I will be in the Sand Dunes that weekend!

I agree 100% Thats why we are keeping our GT2 also..

You know now its funny how much respect the GT2 gets when you take it somewhere.. The people who know what it is .. Really do give it the respect it deserves.. I drive a modded turbo and its like oh thats a nice car.. Drive the GT2 and people on the road give you thumbs up....

I guess the right people know that the GT2 is not for mere mortals.......
