My 996 GT3 gets around 23 on the highway and 18 around town if I'm careful which of course defeats the purpose...

Drive it. Fast. Engine is as broken in as it's going to get with a few hundred miles on the clock.

ok news news news... the GT3 has a 45L tank whatever that is in Gallions so the most you'll ever see on the GT3 is around 190-200miles or 300kms per tank...

that's strange. i think the GT3 has larger fuel tank than C2/S since it's built on C4/S chassis. if i'm correct the GT3 has 17.7 gallon tank (67L) compare to C2/S' 16.9 gal tank.

Something is wrong with your fuel gauge.
It's probably showing empty when there is still 1/4 left.
Have the guage checked.

I think it's a driver issue, I'd be more than glad to have a go at it and see if I can manage some higher mileage

Arling... see this car i filled up when the Yellow Light came on and the trip computer read 280km around 80km more to go so that should have around 5-10L left and i filled up around 37L... the computer is telling me i am using only 13-14L/100km which shows that the Fuel tank is only about 45L if you sub in 37L for 280km it should be around 13.2L/100km which matches the Trip computer's estimation... apparently my dealer has another GT3 owner who is experiencing the same... around 280-300km/tank... can any specialist confirm this??? it really seems like that the car only has a 45L tank around 12 gallon tank...
