997 gt3 PCCB

The dealer tells me the ceramic brakes will last the life of the car. One dealer told me 100,000 miles another told me more. Is this true? Should one be concerned about replacement cost when the dealer is making such big claims? I hear the rotors ar like 5g a piece. ouch. Im trying to decide if the pccb's are a must have option.

i don't think anyone can put out a guarantee unless they are willing to cover it under warranty which is a definite NO. so, be prepared for the big cost if something happens such as cracking of the rotor. if you don't track, i doubt there is any benefit to pccb other than cool factor. if you do track, there may be some merit and you'll roll the dice. some earlier pccb on 996 were replaced in race application due to the high expense of replacement.

thanks guys. i do a lot of street driving and may make it to the track here and there. i will drive between 10-15k a year primarily street. the car that im looking at has the pccb's so that is why i am curious. does anyone have alot of miles on there pccb's? are the new gt3 pccb's the same as the last gt2?

I was told that they last about till 30k miles the rotor and same with the pads.. I dont know. As i been told different things by different dealers. But at 15k i had 70% left in the front and 80% in the rear... Honestly though if its just for street driving and never going to be used HARD...then PCCB isnt the way to go.. The Steel's stop the car real well in colder conditions.

on my 996 c2 i was only able to get like 12-15k on the pads and rotors. should we assume that the pccb's will last double that or more?

big claims indeed since we have yet to hear of ceramics covered under warranty.... regardless of mileage...
