The shown numbers for the GT3... is it safe to assume those are for the Mk1 version?

What tires did each car have?

Do you know what tire each car had? I saw some magazine testing GT3 vs. CSL and CSL had Pilot Sport Cups while GT3 had street tires. Not really apples to apples comparo.

As for GT3 being very close to 360 CS - that's consistant with C&D testing. We were actually at Gingerman when they did the test and two cars were lapping within tenths of each other. Impressive for GT3, kinda weak for Stardale.

The CSL in this test was on Michelin PSC's and the GT3 on the OEM tires (not sure if it was Michelin or Pirelli).

Tires...

If you surf around other forums you will find arguments about the tires.

According to the article the F CS and GT3 RS were on Pirelli P Zero Corsas. But there is a new tire called Pirelli P Zero Corsas System and they are completly different and don't exist (according to the perhaps not 100% Pirelli homepage) in 19" that the car was running on.

So bascically some type of P Zero Corsas. The exact type is unknown.

This is a great set of figures to see, and really bears out my own feelings about the M3 versus the GT3. I had a track prepared M3 the last two years, with full race suspension which I sold to get into the GT3, and I haven't been able to get near my old M3 times as yet. I'm still on the OEM rubber, but the GT3 just doesn't feel as well balanced or planted as the M3 did.

On another board I got screamed at for suggesting a mere M3 could be the better of the two cars, but these figures certainly show that a track ready M3 is a car to be reckoned with.

I have no regrets buying the GT3 since I don't race and have noone to beat. I just love doing track days, the GT3 is an immensly involving and enjoyable car. It is almost like learning to drive all over again, the M3 with its SMG was almost like sitting in a video game, it pretty much drove the track for you.

The one other huge difference between my old M3 and the GT3 is the Porsche quality. This is my first Pcar, and I am really, really impressed with the way it's built, I am really proud of this car, while I never really felt the M3 was special. Capable, yes, special, no.
