TAFEL RACING TAKES DELIVERY OF PORSCHE RSRs FOR 2007 SEASON
CUMMING, Ga. - The 2007 season is getting off to a huge start at Tafel Racing as their cars for both the American Le Mans Series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve are ready to go racing, or at least testing. As the team was loading their three Porsche GT3 Cup cars for the Daytona test, the two new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR cars arrived from the airport.
Team owner Jim Tafel will be driving one of the new RSRs. "I was really pleased with the on- time delivery of the new cars." said Tafel outside the shop on Tuesday. "I'm really looking forward to the Daytona test in preparation for the 24 Hours and then on to the American Le Mans winter test in Sebring. It's great that we're at a point in the development of our program that we can take on a challenge like this and deliver good results in both series."
Tafel Racing will start their season at the Rolex 24 at Daytona at the end of this month with a three-car entry in the GT class. The ALMS season will begin in March at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring where Tafel has two cars entered in the GT2 class. The Cumming, Ga. based team is beginning only its third season of competition. In 2005, the team entered a single car in the Grand Am series. The 2006 season saw a huge expansion of their program as they entered three cars in the GT class and one in the Grand Am Cup series.
