Sunday morning drive in the GT3
Sunday morning drive in the GT3
after 600 miles on the car I finally took the moster out for a canyon drive.
As a result of short shifting I still cannot comment on the horsepower of the car. But the power feels very comparable to a 996 turbo except for the big omfff you get from the turbo's.
The car fells very planted, steering very responsive, exhuast is just thrilling(woof).
The ceramic breaks are outstanding, slowed the car down from 140 to 30 in less than 100 feet. Zero breakdust (love it), another reason I like the ceramic breaks is that they are just huge, both front and back. They feel in the whole center of the 19" wheels. I personally think it's a must have for many reasons.
Heel & toe is easy under breaking and downshifting. I love the short shifter of the car, this is what a manual transmision should be like in every sports car.
Overall ride is stiff, very much like a race car for the road, but the bumps in the road somehow feels very subdued, don't know how they do it, very impressive. The suspension is so stiff that one of the rear wheels hangs in the air when driving sideway into a driveway.
I can't wait to reach about 2000 miles to start pushing the car and experience the limits.
I just hope that I won't get to the limits as fast as I did in the 996 C4S.
Esspecially in power.
By the way I had a deposit on a June build optioned exactly the way I wanted. I am so glad that I found one available less a few options like navigation and sports crono that I really wanted. But I just could not wait any more.I would of missed the whole summer driving experience. Very happy with my decision.
I Have not driven a 997 turbo and cannot compare the two, but I did drive a
996 turbo which feels just beautiful around the city and for highway driving.
But on a race track a 996 turbo feels like a boat.
But if you want a weekend toy and enjoy a driving experience of a racecar for the road, the GT3 is a must.
