About to pull the trigger on a 996GT3...

I'm a potential future 996GT3 owner and just came across what I think may be the one:

2004 Seal grey GT3, 4900 miles
Black full-leather interior with full red deviated stitching and belts
Full interior carbon package and sills
Aluminum gauge faces and trim
PCCB, xenons

He also added the carbon RS wing, carbon RS mirrors, Europipe exhaust and Tequipment rollcage

The car has purportedly never been on track and looks like a total garage queen without a single flaw. He's currently firm at $80k (includes original parts).

What would you offer?

Also, if any of you know of any atlas or seal-grey cars with a similarly full options list, I'd be very interested in hearing about it..

that sounds like a gem. i would offer $78K and hope he takes it. honestly, that car sounds so good that for 80K its a great deal and would not let it slip away if its the one you really want.

Agreed. Even 80K seems like a pretty good deal.

Agree as well that at 80 that's a GOOD BUY! If I were in the market for a 996 GT3 that would be it

$80k is a great deal considering the low miles and tastegul mods. Don't loose out on a great car for a couple of grand.

I know of a Manthey GT3 for sale in pristine condition with a buttload of options on it. GR/Black.

Is this car in OC?...Owners name is Albert...if so I drove down from LA to look at this car YESTERDAY...Guy's Dad shows the car and didn't want to even pull it out of the garage. Then I asked the guy for a ride...and he said "are you ready to buy it today?"....and I said, don't know, let's see how it goes and I will also need a PPI to check for type2 Rev's that could void the remaining warranty...Plus I said, the PCCBs have lots of cracks and a few chips and I want those checked by cert P-car mechanic as well....and he said "NO RIDE FOR YOU!"

I'm like WTF, I just drove 60 miles to look at your car and unless I say I'm buying it TODAY I can't get a ride....I get the owner on the phone (the son who still lives at home)...and he says..."well lots of people want rides and stuff w/no intention of buying." I explain to him that I don't make a hobby out of driving 120 miles round trip on the 5 to get a 10 min ride in a GT3...on the phone before I even drove down there he had already asked...are you buying?...and I explained that I'm in market and don't need financing..cash buyer....So after the whole nonsense of you can't go for a ride (as a passenger) I ask him if he believes its the only 3 for sale in a 200 mile radius of LA...I then ask him if he would buy a used car w/o driving it?...silence is what his response was.

....Car was nice, the owner was a total dick! Then just as a follow up to see what he'd say, I sent him a several point inquiry about the car's maintainence, etc. and he did not respond. I'll find a car elsewhere.

If you go to see it, better take a suitcase of $$ or cashier's check! An interpreter might be helpful as well.

By the way, car looks totally riced out with the big carbon wing on it. Nice piece and all, but if you are not using it at the track...and the car has never been tracked says the owner....it looks too boy racer...IMHO.

Finally, his failure to respond to a request to take the car for a PPI in OC or better, back to BHP where it was purchased for a PPI tells me a whole lot here...could be wrong, but seems strange.

If I was shopping for a GT3 right now, I would buy Old Guy's Manthey car for sure.

A Manthey GT3! Quite possibly the only remaining one of 2ea (that I am aware of) in the U.S. It's too bad Old Guy must part with this excellent vehicle. Well cared for and highly optioned. IMO, this is a no brainer for anyone shopping for a 996 GT3.
P.S. No affiliation with Old Guy, just GT3 buddies.

if i cannot get a REAL test drive where i bounce it off rev limiters, i wouldn't take the car even if it was free, that's just me.

i have to like the PO, else i won't buy the car. i hate dealing with dicks.

if you want a really nice GT3, old guy's manthey is the ticket.

a Manthey power kit is a 410 hp kit from Olaf Manthey http://www.manthey-motors.de/ He was a factory racer for Porsche and continues to race in Europe with his equipped cars- the 410 kit is about $15K USD and includes reflash of the ECU ( Ihave the stock spare ECU) oversize equal lentgh stainless headers, 100 cell cats and mufflers and tips according to the dyno charts its running around 370 to the rear wheels but I dont know the conditions or the drivetrain loss. It is a quick car.

I can't believe no one has snapped up OldGuy's car yet; I saw the car just a couple weeks ago. Car is awesome. It's got everything you'd want in a GT3 and more. The only reason it's not in my garage is because I couldn't pony up the extra dough. It's a 'special' GT3 for sure. If you can afford this car buy it.

Hey PG how's your back doing? I say keep it; if you're feeling healthier that is.
