You can raise your "bull****" flag if you want. I could care less. I've got my GT3 and I got it at a great price. I'm not defending a purchase "a couple of months later". I just bought the car on Saturday. Finding the thread was easy my friend. Before I bought a plane ticket to Houston to look at the car I did a search for "Champion Motorsports" to see what I could learn about them in advance....Elementary my dear Watson...

Why the F are you giving me a hard time? I'm just the buyer of a nice GT3. I'm also defending Champion because I feel like they gave me a fair deal, they were nice folks, and they're even going to take care of me on this alignment/new tire issue. If you want to see my new ride come to some of the Nor Cal or So Cal NASA pro racing events. You'll probably see me at Willow Springs, Laguna Seca, and Thunderhill raceways. Well, you'll probably only see the back of my car after I pass you...

Raffi- I'm going to Ogner Porsche while I'm here in Los Angeles to pull the vehicle history. If Porsche replaced those side skirts under warranty for some reason then I'm going to see if I can get them to put the correct ones on the car. If they won't do it then I may eventually put the MK2 skirts on. No rush really.

Jox- How can I collect my fifty bux? That will get me a tank of gas that will get me back home to SF from LA.

I apologize if I came off as harsh, but I just find this whole thing really weird, that's all. The MK1 sideskirts is one thing - if the car felt right inspite I probably wouldn't have let it pass either - but the fact that this dealer acted the way he did, LOST the title... and you still got it, having read up on it before, surprises me. And then you come here to justify it in a way that sounds like you need to "save" the dealer from all the negativity and prove he's alright.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, and I'm sure the car is wonderful, but from our point of view it does seem a little odd.

Why would Porsche replace side skirts under warranty? Even if they did, there is no way in hell they would replace them with the wrong ones.

Jox- Apology accepted, thank you. The title on this car isn't lost; I think you misread my post. My story about the motorcycle I got for half of blue book was because the owner of the bike had lost the title and the ignition was broken on the motorcycle. Everyone was afraid to buy the motorcycle. I did my due diligence and saw the the motorcycle was perfectly legal and the sellers story was legit. I relayed that story in my earlier post as an example. Sometimes things don't seem quite right and require further investigation but often times things are actually fine and you can end up with an amazing deal. This is my 19th car and I've never had a problem.

I'm not trying to "save" the dealer. I experienced nothing but excellent attitude and professional service from them and wanted to defend their reputation against unwarranted random attacks on a message board.

I don't think its weird at all. So what if the car has the wrong side skirts on it? Maybe the original owner liked the way they look? Maybe he drove the thing over a sidewalk or something and damaged them and then ordered the wrong replacements? Maybe the dealer ordered the wrong replacement? You never know. Either way it's just a cosmetic piece of plastic than can easily be swapped out. I wasn't going to let that stand in the way of my purchase. The car has been thoroughly inspected now and I'm confident that it's in perfect condition and has never been in an accident or anything. Looking forward to putting many miles on her.

LuisGT3- Who knows Luis? Does it really matter if it was done under warranty for some reason or maybe the original owner messed them up and took it to an independent shop to have them replaced? I don't care! The car is perfectly legit and is in amazing condition both cosmetically and mechanically...and I got it at a great price too.

I really fail to understand why you people put so much energy into this. None of you were interested in buying the car in the first place. I say we let this thread die now. I got a great car, champion took care of me, end of story. At some point down the road I may put the MK2 skirts on.

sorry spider, my post had some sarcasm, i thought this was a joke too.
to many unbelievable things...
1,you found this post
2,they gave your free tires???
3, wrong side skirts? porsche wont even let you mix and match rear wings/bumpers but they put on the wrong side skirts. that is a huge law suit, imagine all the aerodynamics they messed up.
4, they sold the car right after holger started interrogating them.
it seems like that was the best way to shut everyone up, by showing a satisfied customer, who says the car is perfect and the dealer even better.
there are alot more things i can think of but thats just a few.
if this is a real post then congrats, it is a beautiful car and you can make it perfect by just changing out the side skirts for a couple hundred bucks.
i dont really blame champion either because i know what it is like to sell a car, you never know who is the serious buyer. i do think they should have come up with their own name though...

You say you were concerned that the car was structually sound, then why would you buy it and THEN check under the car? If you truely bought the car why wouldn't you do a PPI in houston before driving it L.A.?

Quote: I saw this car too on e-bay and the thread from 6speedonline.com and the one on rennlist. I felt the price warranted an inspection so I flew to Houston from San Francisco to check it out. The car is in immaculate condition regardless of whether or not it has the correct side skirts on it. Honestly I could care less whether they're MK1 or MK2 side skirts. My concerns are that the car is structually and mechanically sound and well cared for. Cosmetics are easy to replace...and cheap. Long story short- I bought the car and drove it back. I got a great deal on a great car. I was able to get the car up on the lift today and do a more thorough and complete inspection. Everything looks perfect. The folks at Champion Motorsports were honest and straight-forward and doing business with them was a pleasure. I would buy from them again.

Quote: .. I've been looking for a silver GT3 for awhile now. ,,,
but you weren't aware that sonnen had one silver, carlsen had one silver, stead motors also had one silver and fletcher jones had TWO silver GT3 for sale in the last 4 months. eveyone of them were cherry. all above dealers are in the general SF area.

it is rare that a GT3 goes on sale in N.Ca and i dont know about it. they dont call me GT3 boy for nothin

that said as long as you like the car you bought that's all that matters. see you on track.

Raffi- They didn't give me free tires. They offered to reimburse me for the tires I bought today in Anaheim and the alignment.

Turbo Freak- Interior pics? Sure when I get a chance.

Nine9six- I won't have California plates until I get to the DMV and I can't do that until I have the title and a smog check. Could be a few weeks. Plus I'm in LA for the next few days and on the tennis courts. Probably won't drive back up to SF until next weekend.

Mooty- Nasa Pro Racing. Was on the track in the past with my C5. No, I wasn't aware that Sonnen had any GT3's. Last time I was there they didn't. I tried to buy a Cayman S from them and the experience was so miserable that I walked away from the deal. Either way I doubt that Sonnen or Fletcher could have matched the price that I got this GT3 for.

Kem- Years ago and prior to being a legal compliance auditor I was a mechanic. I'm confident that the inspection I was able to do on-site in Houston was sufficient and it was confirmed when I got it on the rack in Anaheim.

To all- How do I post pics on this forum? I have a few pics I took while it was on the alignment rack in Anaheim at "Accurate Alignment". If any of you are in Southern California I give them the highest recommendations. They set my C5 up for me too and it was perfect and stayed perfect for 20,000 miles of hard driving and track days.

What's next? Do you fools want to come to my place in the Marina and see it in my garage? I still fail to see why everyone is putting so much energy into this. Why do you even care? Have you nothing else to do? A life? I got a great car in immaculate condition and an amazing price.
