GT tua

Buy the car, you will not regret it. If you dont want to part with the cash have the dealer mouse part of the balance for four to five years at a resonable interest rate. Again dont worry about the PPI, just get the two years added to the standard time warranty and 100,000 miles total. My GT3 is my favorite machine hands down...... hurry, I wouldnt mind another with A/C this time, especially in that rare dark blue.

First off -- thanks to all of you for your advice etc...

The deal is done and pick up the car this Saturday.

Final deal was $80,750 including CPO.

I tried hard to work them down to $80K even... but they would not budge any further.

Started at $84K without CPO

Looking forward to Saturday, then a car control course, then some track days etc...

I will post pics after I pick it up this weekend.

Congrats on the purchase. Should be lots of fun. Nice to see good 996 cars go for good money. I paid only $5,000 more than that from Barrier several months before the arrival of the new 997GT3, so the prices are staying fairly strong. Drop me an email when you get a chance at

do a few things, check out to see if the drilled hole on the rotor is cracked. if it is most likely the car has been tracked hard. also a GT3 really set apart from other porsches. its got a lot more soul but please do not use is a daily as its hard and pain the *** to drive on a bumpy freeway, not to say its low. the motor is musci to the ear. imagine you on a sunny afternoon, you, a GT3, your favorite music ( i prefer fast pace ones), a smooth canyon road with virtually no traffic (go during weekdays, ditch work for a day and spend it with your car you work hard and you derseve it) then put the car int eh gear which keeps engine hummmmmmming and watch out for the power oversteer on the 996 coming on each corner

i have driven a lot of race car in my life. this car actually nearly killed me and it is the fist car the brought tear to my eyes. for 996 GT3 be sure that you treated it respect since there will be no traction control to save you. also compare to the turbo it will have tendency to oversteer on you when going downhill at hi speed so be very careful.

ps when the car oversteer on you. be sure NOT to let off the gas and just keep those wheel spinning... trust me you will smile after each corner you take..... hmmm i think i am in for anohter canyon run this weekend

Schmidt -- will email soon, pick up the car this Sat... thanks for pushing me along as well

Luis -- thanks as well for your advice

Sean Lee -- very sage advice, thank you

40oz -- my wife is being as cool as a cucumber about this, but I told her about your advice (get one with back seats) as the same dealer had a 2002 Turbo X 50 avail... she said "get the GT3, no compromises, last time you compromised (2000 C4) you ended up getting an M5 6 months later, and since then you will not stop talking GT3.. get exactly what you want.. the alternative will cost us more in the long run!" Guess which one of us is smarter?

Dubercars -- we will certainly have to meet up sometime... I am sure that I could use some pointers... just do me a favor, do not tell me how great all the mods are on your car -- they are out of the question for a long while... Any suggestions for getting involved with a Porsche group locally? Obviously there is the PCA, but I have heard from a few Porsche guys that come to the M5board drives that the PCA drives are a bit "regimented" for lack of a better term...

I pick it up on Saturday morning...

I watched this video twice at work today to hold me over -- I am sure it is a repost
