997 Gt3 Brake Squeak

I have the steels on mine and find they squeak like crazy when coming to a stop. They have got worse after i hit 1000 miles. Any one with a similar problem? any suggestions? do the ceramics squeak too?
thanks,
Todd

Yep, you're not driving hard enough. One good stop will clean the **** off of the discs and they'll quiet down.

same problem

I have a similar problem (mine also makes a clunky sound when I first apply brake in reverse) and can't get any help. Dealer says "no problem found". I have tried the so-called hard braking and hard braking from 100MPH, but problem is still there. It is most annoying to say the least. In a 100K thorough-bred, it is NOT acceptable. Directions to solutions will be greatly appreciated.

I would try bedding in the pads. Do a search on in net and give them a shot. It worked when I installed the BBK.

The Pagid pads that are on the GT3 are designed for tracking and racing, not really a great street application, squeaking is of secondary concern when designing brakes for racing applications, hence the squeaking we hear.

Bedding the breaks has helped in my car, but after a few miles of regular street driving the squeaking comes back, but not as much.

My PCCBs never make a sound,--with your IRON brakes you need to fully DEPRESS the brake pedal occasionally to break through the glaze that has set up on the surface of the rotors from weak braking.

cross-drilled rotors

Almost any cross-drilled rotor will make the noise. Nothing wrong with it. Mine does it too.

the factory pad ususally are quiet. if not, re-bed them.
and they really are useless on track.

aftermkt pagid RS19, 29, 14 etc are great on track but squeal like pigs. you have to rebed them every 800-1000 street miles. but after re-bedding or track driving, they will be quiet for another 800-1000 miles.
