I've had an older merc S class too, they were truely built to last and looked the part. Only problem was the AC failed quite often after 10+ years. Nothing else was an issue!
Sad to see the GT3 messed up, that has serious frame damage written all over it. Good thing no injuries. Looks like a write off

I have never owned one, but have NOTHING bad to say about them as a car....they are built like tanks like you said. I actually have an old co-worker who had over a million miles on one. But to call them a "true classic" IMO is
Driver is a friend of mine, and his car is mainly used only for Sunday drives and trackdays. As such, I guess he is allowed a little leeway because its not driven daily with this livery.
