Instead of the humid 90+ degree days and 80+ degree nights we've had lately, tonight's in the low 70s and crisp. So, I went out for a little run and man, what a difference, the car was rippin'!!

It feels better everywhere, but definitely has extra zing above 7K. Now, the car feels like it really lights up with speed when you get on it. Damn hot weather was sapping the life out of it.

Anyway, I just wanted to express some excitement. Take advantage of horsepower weather when you can.

 

I think we had a week of 80+ weather here in Seattle. No wonder it feels so fast here!

 

ya, high heat in my cars are even worse!


what more amazing is how that stuff affects track tarmac grip...worth SECONDS when dealing with +/- 10s from a base temp...

i think its the humidity, and the densenes of the air..

its both really, but heat is, as the commercial accurately states, is the enemy of engines and DOES rob power...TT cars in particular already produces loads of heat and adding more only creats heat soak and other undesireable effects on a high hp engine, one such undesireable effect is the loss of a small amount of power. That said, humidity can further the process and when coupled with high heat, can litterally soak what seems like 50 hp from a 450 hp car...what it ACTUALLY does I dont know...

 

Very true. Cooler air is more dense and contains more oxygen per volume than warmer, less dense air. If the air filling the cylinders contains more oxygen, more fuel can be burned which equals more power.

Also, less humid (dryer) air has fewer water molecules and more oxygen free for combustion.

 

Oh yea...my car felt like a dog last week when we had four 100+ days in a row here in NC. I was lucky enough to catch a 78 deg night ride over the weekend and it was ALL *****.
