My understanding, which could certainly be wrong, is that Porsche is NOT really doing paint to sample for GT3RS/GT3 due to the heterogenious materials in the manufacture of the car, and that it is too hard to guarantee perfect matching across all panels with an "untested" color. I don't really know why this would be so, since they've done metal, aluminum, and fiberglass combinations for decades, but that was what I (perhaps erroneously) was told.
Painting the interior the dev color is clever, and looks cool. Under the above theory, it makes sense why they could do it. The exterior is not paint to sample unless that is a different white that the current factory white (I'm assuming if it is a different white, that it's Grand Prix White).
Its obvious that this was done at Porsche. The plastic is still on there and are no reasons to doubt it. In my experience I have seen myself a Black GT3RS with RED graphics instead of Orange. Supposedly the guy knew someone over at Porsche and they did it for him. I just need to figure out how I can replicate this car in the pic for one of my customer cause the US order rep says it cant be done. Very weird!!! And what most people dont understnd is that you dont talk to anyone on the phone and order. Its all done on a computer and submited. Theres no "special request" box or comments box. You pick what they have or you dont order it : )

what u told on what u said is not correct. ''heterogenious materials in the manufacture of the car, and that it is too hard to guarantee perfect matching across all panels with an "untested" color.'' HUH? does that make sense to u?

OCPorsche,
It seems 20C4S has some good insider information! Also, check out the link he sent me before your post. It shows a white/black RS WITH sport adaptive seats with yellow stitching.

again i wish u the best when ordering urs. just because u're outside of US u automatically have more power when ordering it. in US we don't get the Euro CF seats so we hae what u see in the pic. they're just regular sport seat not adaptive sport seat. the adaptive sport seat is an option for GT3 but not for RS here.

Thanks! You realize you just made my life a living hell now because I have to try to pull this off. Hopefully hes more into the black stripes!
What is "Paint to Sample" anymore? If you are Porsche, Carrara White is considered "Paint to Sample." Read this: http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/91...etail/colours/. I can't figure out Porsche sometimes.
