Painted Brake Calipers on a Diablo

Here's a project we worked on last week. The client wanted us to paint the old, oxidized and faded brake calipers the color of the car - Rosso Vik on a '98 Diablo SV Montero Edition. Because of the pearl content on the paint, the extra step of high temp. urethane clear was necessary. Definitely made a beautiful car really pop.

Looks great. With all that prep and taping to mask the area off, wouldn't it have just been easier to take the calipers off the car and paint them on a bench?

On some cars yes, but not on this one. Then there's the additional challenge of how to mount them while painting, possible damage during assembly, possible leakage of brake fluid on paint, and bleeding the brakes. In this case it was the less of two evils.

Wow... I would have expected them to be taken off...

So, did you paint the back side also?

(all my humble opinion) ... I think it would look a lot more detailed if the hardware wasn't painted too.

To throw a "pro" in there, the paint DOES look good...

Wouldn't it be better to remove the calipers and powder coat them?
