I was at this track event which happened a long time ago at Fontana... Regarding the car that crashed, I don't believe it was just a hot track on a hot day which caused the accident. Rather I think it was an inexperienced driver who didn't know how to drive such a powerful stick shift car. To this day, I can still see that car sliding into the wall (I dont think it was 100mph - at most it was 60). Seemingly, the driver was changing gears while turning and made the tires slip because he didnt properly shift, which coupled with the somewhat slick track, sent him on a heartbreaking crash...
