Maybe a Gallardo?

Seriously.
For DD:
#1 Ride height that adults can actually see over the Miata in front of them.
#2 Decent mileage (for a 500hp car).
#3 Decent reliability (I've had mine for 18 months - no issues).
#4 Prices around $78k now for premium.
#5 Performance that exceeds 360 (and most in a 430), and is on par with the Gallardo.
#6 A trunk that you could fit 5gl jugs of water - upright, 12' canopy, etc... (at least I do when I take the family grocery shopping or to the race track) (I just bought a dresser for my little one, and it fit with no problem - and returned a steam cleaner as well... Can't do that in a Gallardo).
#7 AWD.
#8 AWD.
The GT-R is a great car for the DD. I was going to stay out of this, but the M3 was mentioned... And I just wanted you to stay focused on the original path that you started on.
Stay away from the M3's.

damn guys the guy asked you for advice on what car to choose not financial advice. if he wants to buy his dream car and can do it who cares. this is a car forum not financial one. that being said, i would definitely go with a gallardo. lambo seems to have made a pretty reliable car. i have owned my for a while with zero problems. i have a friend has own his since 04 and the only thing that he has changed is the clutch and tires. these car are not that expensive for their services. dont let these guys keep you from buying your dream car.
This forum has clearly seen its better days! Why you people would call him a D-bag for no other reason than you disagreeing with how he should live HIS life is what's pathetic here! A-holes should be banned for making such stupid posts!
Not going to be holding my breath for those photos to say the least....of course it was obvious he was full it, but my god what a Dbag. If he talks about it enough and convinces other people he's buying his dream car its almost as good as actually having it.
250k debt.. yes I agree that is not a good starting point..
But being in the real estate, commodity trading/selling business.. I see people who have 2-3m dollar homes, 2-3 200k+ cars etc. etc. All with less liquid capital than this guy who has 160k right now at any given time..
I agree this is a problem, and a problem that our country has been dealing with for quite awhile.. but there are a TON of people like this in the country, leveraged FAR worse than this man is.. and still picking up exotic cars.. When business goes bad and they panic, they simply sell the cars..
and these are not 30 year old young men behaving like this this is 55+ year old people.. It's just the way some people live life..
Myself I am 33 and in the past few years bought 4 cars (ferrari, maserati, lotus, porsche) and I love them all, my finances in my opinion are in pretty decent condition.. However when I first started buying exotic cars I think I was making 60k a year and I 100% financed a car for 55k.. I remember thinking "I can make enough to pay for the car and live so i'll do it" well 5 years later I am making a lot more (god willing) and I pray to keep doing so.. and everything worked out.. but there is no question me at 27 was likely taking a risk making that purcahse.. but that is what keeps us all going isn't it?
I have seen too many people die young, and get sick young in life.. I think if a car makes you really happy and you somehow can rationalize it.. you should do it.. is it smart? ABSOLUTELY not.. but it sure makes you feel alive.. it does for me at least.. We only live once in this lifetime.. I suggest you do what you can to feel as alive as possible.. some of my favorite things in this world are cars.. every time I get into one of my cars I am happy, and excited.. I love just looking at them.. I have not regretted owning them or having that feeling.. even when it was a struggle to worry about affording them..
I am not advocating he do this.. and let me state again that it is NOT a wise decision.. but if you live your life worrying about the most wise decision you likely will not have much fun

Bulgari- go for it. If you have the means I am all for it. Nice to hear your debt will be taken care of otherwise.
Remember at the same time, time waits for no one..if you are comfortable go for the gallardo IMO, or anything that makes you happy- in the end thats all that matters. Congrats on whatever car you get!

I have to agree with every one else
that 250k is a lot of debt but I also understand you dreaming. I think we all dreamed of exotic cars as kids and that dream followed us, which is why we post on this site. Many people will tell you that maintaining a Gallardo is cheap, but in my experience it is not if you daily drive it which I did with mine for about 8 months. I went through 2 sets of tires at about 2k a set, an oil change ever 3000 miles at 450 a pop, a clutch to the tune of 6500 dollars, and I put 10,000 miles on the car which lead to a ton of depreciation. Did I care, not really because I bought the car to drive, but honestly the attention gets annoying, the maintance starts to really add up and before you know it the price of actually buying the car was just the beginning. I would not say do not buy one of these car, but you should be aware of what it entails. On that note, buy a new 997.2 Its the perfect starter supercar, and makes a great DD, if not buy the gallardo and save an extra 10 a year to keep it right because you will end up using it.
^ Why settle? If you know there is something more out there, you may not enjoy what you have enough for the entire time you've owned it, and lost out on a great opportunity. I wouldn't settle on a cheaper car, just because I didn't think I was 'ready' to enjoy it.
But then again, I'm the guy who spend $79k on a Nissan...

That is the exact reason why some many car manufactures rolls out all these special edition to lure people in (E63, M5, RS6, Superleggera,...etc). Don't worry, he can always go with a Zonda, Bugatti Veyron to appreciate the difference from a Gallardo.

I think if he gets a 6 speed manual gallardo he can get 30-40k miles out of a clutch.. at least that is what people I know are reporting.. so that eliminates the clutch concern.. also if he takes it a bit easy on starts the tires should last while as well.. it's all about how hard he drives the car..
I havent had to change the tires on any of my cars in over 2 years and I have driven them thousands of miles.. I also do not do a lot of burn out or hard starts etc either.. I am still on the same brakes as the last 2 years also.. so just DD the car but don't abuse it (too much) and you should avoid a lot of the maintenance costs
