This financing deal is a dangerous situation. The last thing you want is to have had this car for 12-18 months, be 30k upside down and have a major maintenance issue with an out of warranty car. If you feel you must finance it do what weary says and put a big chunk down and finance the rest, no balloon no lease.

Rather than focusing on the lure of the 880 payment option per month... I'd focus on the car itself. I'm not one against high mileage vehicles as if they are properly and up-to-date maintained... they should run just as well as a comparable lower mileage vehicle.

PPI is something I'd definitely have done and calculate potential maintenance costs and how soon. In my opinion, nothing would hurt more than 500 miles down the line after I've signed the papers and committed... having to drop 5-8k+ on repairs. Furthermore, it'd be a different story [IMO] if it were 5k miles later.

To be honest, I would look around a bit more and find a better deal. I saw talk of a balloon payment at the end of 72 months which means you are interested in owning at the end... Why not just finance a better/more worth while car for essentially the same price [end cost] with no surprises.

Not to be that guy, but you can't afford it.

You're talking about 3K down, 6 years of payments, and a balloon payment on top of it. All for something that is only $80K to begin with.

The car is old, beat up based on the interior, in unknown mechanical condition, and out of warranty. Save you money or go buy something relatively new. Maybe it's not exotic enough, but you're better off in a 07 997TT or a slightly used 997.2 PDK. Both are way better cars too. 04 G == crap.

Well, if you can actually afford all of it...I think it would be much safer to do what these guys are saying. Put the big chunk down now and not at the end...Much less scary.

Again, financing it any way is a mistake. From the comments made, I get the impression that this is either or: you can either have $80K in the bank and finance it or have nothing in the bank but pay for the car.

Bottom line in my book: you can't afford the car. If you could pay cash and have $80-$100K in the bank, too, then if might be a deal. But you NEED $80K + in the bank, I believe. You don't NEED a Gallardo, particularly an old one that will probably cost a lot in repairs, etc.

When it comes to toys, particularly toys well out of warranty, my experience is that cash works best. Do debt, nor worries.

This is excellent advice. And written in the style of Samuel Langhorne Clemens to boot.
