How much does the exhaust get muffled when a twin turbo set up is installed in a gallardo? Is it significant?

 

The turbochargers themselves work as mufflers, so it will take out some of the drone of the exhaust and replace it with a bit of "turbo whine". If you had 2 Gallardo side by side, 1 turbocharged with muffler deletes and the other Naturally aspirated with straight pipes, the car with straight pipes would likely be significantly louder and have a higher pitch to the exhaust note.

Are there any specific exhausts that sound better with forced induction gallardos.

 

Exhausts are vehicle/builder specific because of turbo placement. Most prefer 3" exhaust coupled with Burns mufflers, they sound great and the pitch that is lost is replaced with the great sound of Blow-off valves and wastegates opening.
