Startup / Warmup Procedures
I was just curios what everyone does when they start their cars in the morning. Do you just start and go, or do you let the car warm up?
I live in Southern California so morning temps are rarely below 65 so I usually start my 08 Gallardo and give it 60 seconds and I am off. Just a little curious. -Jeff |
Just start and go with a 996. Runs great cold or warm. Everything I've read about warming a car is that it just gives you 0 miles to a gallon. No need for it.
Now I don't jump on the throttle until it is at normal running temp. R |
I think if you keep the revs below about 4k until the oil/water temp get up to operating temperatures, it doesn't really matter

I like to let it warm up for 10MN just to prevent any damage...

2 min warm up and then drive easy until your up to normal operating temps.

2-3 mins warm up and 3-4 k revs until operating temp reached.
|
I start it and drive slowly out driveway and keep rpms under 3K until it gets temperature/thermostat opens.
