Considering a gallardo as a replacement for my 996tt next spring.
With my budget I feel I am going to end up with a 04. What should I look out for? I would like to find a nice example under 100k and closer to 85, maybe less. I am a car dealer and do have access to auto auctions, however I would rather buy a car from the original owner.
I am also torn between a true manual transmission and the e-gear. I have never owned a car I use just for sport and pleasure which was auto/dsg/dct etc etc. I'm not sure I could handle not rowing gears.
What are the repairs and problems you guys have had to deal with? I own a European repair shop and am very familiar with Vw and Audi cars. I feel relatively confident with a gallardo after seeing/reading all the similarities. Although I am worried that these cars are rather exotic/complicated. I have heard about people putting a lot of trouble free miles though. I have a ton of questions but I'll stop here hehe. Look forward to spending some time in this forum. --Rob

The 05+ manual would be your safest bet, although an 04 manual would be fine. The 04 doesn't have hydraulic front lift, which is good for maneuvering over speed bumps, sharp angle drive ways, etc. and definitely something others are looking for when they buy, so it will help with resale. The 06 has different gearing in 1st and 2nd gear, 20 more hp (rated) and some more available options, and are priced accordingly for the revisions.
The 04 e-gear is painful to drive in my experience, but some like it.
