I am sure your chances of getting a new Macan next year with a version of the 3.0 TDI are pretty good! The SQ5 is the only real and worthy alternative to the Macan, absolutely.
I've been a bad girl today. Traded in my Q5 for a BMW M550d Touring. It was in the showroom of the local BMW dealership and it was looking at me and said "please buy me!" Couldn't resist....
So no Macan for now... A least not in 2014. Maybe 2015

The BMW engine is truly amazing. 381hp and 545 lb-ft. It's faster than my Boxster haha. I'm looking forward to experience the BMW brand. it's my first, although my mom drives BMW too, so not completely unfamiliar.

Here's the Bimmer. I'll get her at the end of the week

Suzy,

Congrats! That's beautiful. And yet another model/motor choice we don't get in the USA....

Is that a black interior?

I actually just got my wife into a black X3 because she wanted to downsize from her X5 diesel. Although we could have waited for a Macan, I'm skittish on first model year vehicles. So far she loves the X3!

Enjoy your 550!

Thanks! Yes it's a black individual interior. It has all the bells and whistles I like, including adaptive drive and the LED headlights, so it was a perfect match haha.
Didn't know that this one wasn't available in the U.S. It's the most powerful production diesel in a roadcar at the moment, 127hp per liter. Pretty impressive for a diesel. It's actually the same 3L straight-6 engine as in a 530d or an X3 35d, but in this case with three turbochargers.
I just don't think I'm gonna get the same milage as in my Q5

We no longer get the 5 series touring, only 3 series. The largest diesel we get is the 35d. In my wife's X5, the turbo lag was noticeable and frankly annoying, but once you got the thing moving, it was pretty quick for an SUV.

As for your mileage, sometimes you just have to go with the flow....

Sounds like the perfect ride - congratulations, Suzy.
Having owned several Bimmers in the past, I can see why you would be attracted to the M550d - this is one beast that, if sold here, would get a lot of people into a lot of trouble in a hurry in North America - there are no unlimited speed autobahns to truly enjoy this kind of car here. Hope you enjoy discovering its full potential, Suzy!

Thanks Forse

I needed a car for the long trips I often make between Switzerland and Belgium, but also for some daily driving.
The M550d Touring is ideal for that. It's as comfortable as a regular 5 series on the long trips, because of the air suspension, yet has some sporty feeling (for such a big car) for the daily commuting in Switzerland itself and the benefit of the xDrive for the winter.

for some reason i got a pile of negative rep for correcting you... what is with this forum?

I am seriously considering one of these as the winter stable mate to my 991 C2S. Can't wait to see it.

Beautiful. It's a damned shame that we Americans don't buy wagons so we can't even have choices like this.

Many happy, safe miles.

The Macan S's V6 Turbo engine should be Chinese version of 2014 base Panamera engine, which is Turbo 3.0L 320hp.

Which isn't a real -35d. It's a rebadged european -30d. Single turbo as opposed to twin.

Sucks.

Got OFFICIAL word from my dealer yesterday that IN FACT the FIRST MACANS to arrive (in Canada anyway) will be the 'S' and the TURBO. The base model 4 banger will be out in 2015. That is OFFICIAL from PORSCHE now. Sucks for me because I wanted the little guy. Going to get my deposit back & find myself a nice white 2011-2013 Cayenne.
