for a very reasonable sum. What then do you think when choosing between the Macan S and the Macan Turbo?

Just asking...

There will always be upgrades and improvements, either by Porsche or 3rd party providers. If there is a future 400 HP upgrade to a Macan S, there will also likely be a future 450 HP upgrade to the Macan Turbo. Like with every other model to date, subsequent improvements will be made by Porsche for more power and higher efficiency. The possibilities are endless. So, like with computers and iPhones etc., one has to chose what is the best available product that meets his needs now, and worry about the future later.

I read this same coment in another post on the 991 forum regarding the Macan S . There is a downside with this logic though . If one modifies a Macan S it might cost less in the short term but in the long term most dealerships do not want a modified car because they can't CPO it. Upon resale it gets creamed in trade in values plus it costs more than a stock 'S" and less than a Turbo . Thus the person pays more to end up with less than if he just bought a Turbo .

I agree with yrralis1. I've seen that buyers are typically nervous about buying a Porsche with any performance modifications. So these mods, rather than add value to a car, actually often reduce the value. I think the assumption is that a modified car has been driven harder than most, and possibly raced, which scares people away. And to yrralis1's point, future buyers will be worried about warranty coverage.

The quality of non-stock upgrades are always suspect, unless they are in the form of an official Porsche Performance package. Even so, on the open market later on, there might not be anything to compare with if the car is unique. This would give it a possible disadvantage, resulting in longer wait to sale, or most likely a loss in price due to low demand or meaningful comparative valuation. In other words, mod it for yourself if you must, but your mod is not someone else's idea of changing the character of the original.
