Disappointed in MPG
Disappointed in MPG
I was hoping the mileage would have been a little better. Drove approx 500 miles (Macan turbo), average speed 78 mph-- 22.8mpg.
Previous Cayenne Hybrid: 26mpg highway, 22mpg combined
991tt: 26-28mpg highway
I was hoping with less weight the mpg would have been a little better. I guess Porsche Intelligent Performance doesn't work all of the time.
I am only commenting on the mileage. On all other factors the Macan is a great driving SUV. Really fun to drive, much funner than the Cayenne.

That sounds pretty good too me. You have to compare apples to apples. mpg at 78 is going to be lower than at lower hwy speeds. Wind load requires 44% more energy at 78 mph than at 65, while drive train load is more towards linear. So you would have to compare a similar trip with the Cayenne at 78 mph. If you are getting near 23 mpg brand new, it will probably increase another 3 mpg when broken in at 15-25k miles. A few extra psi in the tires might help too. A guess is many of us would not be disappointed with those numbers with a new one at that average speed.
I don't think it's too bad... but then again, I'm not sure what to compare it to? I don't think a Cayenne Hybrid or 991tt is a fair comparison.
I have just under 1500 miles on my Turbo and am at a hair less than 18 mpg, mostly city driving. Worse than my 958 V6, but I'll take it.
I'm taking a road trip tomorrow, I'll report back on the mpg in a few days.

I agree with stevefrommn. Porsches are meant to be driven with spirit and enjoyed. If mileage is a concern then that's why they invented the Prius. Gas is by far the cheapest part of owning a nice, powerful car anyway.
I averaged 22-23 mpg on my road trip from Vegas to SoCal and back, with an avg speed 75 mph on the way there and 69 on the way back (I made a couple stops). Not bad IMO, love the power of the Turbo effortlessly passing at high speeds.
I think 22-23 is pretty good on a new one.
My CGTS averages about 13 around town but I do drive it with a lead foot, on mostly 35 & 45mph boulevards with lots of stop lights, and seldom do any hwy miles. I like to leave 'em reading their phones back there, when the light turns green :-)
