The new $600 charge to activate Voice-control
The new $600 charge to activate Voice-control
So if your Macan has PCM with Navigation and Connect Plus, there should also be a button on the upper left control stalk on your steering column that (depending on whether or not your salesperson bothered to check the box next to the $0 dollar charge for the voice-control) may, or may not allow you to use this function. Mine wouldn't let me even though it came with all the required equipment as part of the technology connect plus package for the PCM with navigation yada yada yada....... So I went to the local Porsche Dealership to see what was going on. He said if the car had voice-control it would work. To which I replied with a quick tapity swipe swipe of my phone showing him the Porsche website and it's statement about PCM C+ with voice control included in the Technology package for however many thousands of dollars. Then he started talking down to me like somehow by puffing himself up and raising his voice would confuse and bewilder me into retreat. Which was so
, that I almost wasn't able to keep from giggling. Well....it was the laser sharp focus I had on keeping a straight face that kept me from punching that ****** in the throat. So then he said there was only one option, "Reorder another one, and make sure the box gets checked." He said with a chuckle and this smirk like he was King Witty or something.
Apparently the $89,670 cash (before tax title and dealer fees) that I just spent on getting this one, and just took delivery of just 6 days prior wasn't enough.
So I smiled, and removed the Diors from my eyes to get a better look at his face as I asked him, "Ummm... since you're obviously not busy enough..... would ya mind canceling the 2018 Cayenne Turbo S of M'mas, and 2018 718 Cayman S that I ordered last week, Thanks."
Needless to say, but all the color went outta his fat face in 0.5 seconds.
It was awesome! Except then I had to drive 16 miles to reorder the exact same cars, but it was totally worth it.
Score
Me: 1
******: -2
So anyway....
Back to the voice-control fix Porsche released a couple weeks ago for $600 bucks.
Seriously Porsche?!
Okay.... whatever, just send it to me with my mats.
Got my mats last night, and this laminated card certificate with a barcode saying my vehicle is authorized to get the Voice Control function unlocked with some code at any Certified Porsche Dealership.
Are you F-ing kidding me?!
That's all there is to it?
This is a blatant scheme for Porsche, the dealership or both, to charge us for a $0 dollar box that the dealer didn't check.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
FMLFMLFMLFMLFMLFML!
Soooo over it.

Voice Control Activation
I have a 2017 Macan GTS and it came with PCM plus Navigation and Connect Plus. I have the voice button on the left stalk but I do not have voice control that works. I don't use Siri or Apple phones but would like to get the voice control for other functions. My build sheet shows QH1 not checked off.
Sounds like the dealer can program QH1 for me for a fee.
Thanks for the heads up on this, other information on the Internet says this cannot be done...

Thats exactly right. It seems like no matter where I looked, either online or at the dealerships themselves, I'd be given that weird checked or unchecked QH?.something box on the build-sheet as one of those
"IT IS WHAT IT IS" kinda responses even on forums by other members. These codes that are (in a way) the genetic makeup of your particular vehicle. It's like car DNA, and makes it sound irrefutable. But after I was told it was a $0 dollar option box that the dealer will mark so the car can utilize this function, I knew it had to be a software enabled switch that was turned off in my Macan that was causing all this crap. So they said, "If you had an IPhone then Siri could be used instead as voice-control, and Siri doesn't control anything except Apple carplay like it doesn't support any of the Google navigation/PCM navi which is something you pay for by getting that PCM 4 with the navi module. It doesn't say that's all it can work with, and the only navi you'll physically be able to use is freaking Apple Maps. Which sucks! I went and bought that stupid IPhone and it didn't do any of that functionality that I was told it would after talking to the dealer that day, and so now I just have an extra phone but never going to be used. It's annoying.
now that I have the voice control in there and you know how that ability that I was wanting it's not anything like my Audi had in it it is constantly saying excuse me or a completely different word than what I just said and I know that it needs to learn my speech patterns or whatever but I speak extremely clearly and it's just I can't like recognize it yet so I'm trying to figure out if there is like a sequence of words that I can you know say just like my Audi had in it in order to help it assimilate to my voice but no one is Steve dealership here in Denver know anything about it and there's nothing in the online for physicals owner's manual so it might not have it function and now I understand why so many people were complaining about it but I don't want to think that it would be that bad of a design because I love the whole AAG company. But you know for a car costing $90,000 for it not to have any sort of functionality literature when a car a quarter the cost of this one has Android auto and everything works. I don't know just seems silly that they couldn't or haven't done it, or they haven't released anything from Porsche who must read these forums, but haven't released anything about it from their HQ so that we know as owners, and loyal customers that they're working on it or something, and that's really annoying. But it makes me feel tricked, and in turn causes me to second guess a manufacturer that I thought would take better care of their customers.
So if you're still wanting to buy it after all that then your dealer should be able to call whoever and get an authorisation code or whatever, and enter it into the PIWIS diagnostic unit like I watched them do to mine so it unlocks it. That way you wont have to wait for the laminated card certificate thingy.

Thanks for your recent post, although looks like it got cut off?
Do I need to go through PCNA or just my dealer to try to get Voice Control to function. How did you get the barcode? If it is available to fix, like yours, I will be willing to pay.
Reminds me of my wife's 2016 C300 Mercedes. Car didn't come with Nav option but had Nav screen. Cost me $600 for a Mercedes Nav memory card to insert into center console slot to activate Navigation map and screen...

A blatant rip-off of their loyal customers. I would call Porsche Customer Relations and explain the situation and see if they can assist with a solution that does not cost a loyal customer $600 to correct a complete dealership screw-up when ordering.
