I'm not Middle Eastern, Muslim, Arab w/e, but I find that statement to be totally wrong. Most of those living in Dubai right now that are extremely rich have no connections to the oil industry. A lot of them are into financing, real estate, development, investment management. The UAE doesn't have very much oil left; it is no longer their only source of income. There is lots of foreign investment, cheap labor, and a huge potential for development their right now.

Never said anything about race / ethnicity. Just saying some of the ugliest exotics I've ever seen come from that part of the world. That said, you could contrive a similar statement for any country of excess. Look at China and their population problem. Look at America and our obesity problems. I'm just saying they're pissing away money by modifying cars that don't need modification.
While we're on the topic, the UAE is a "financial capital" for the entire Middle East. They don't produce any oil worth mentioning. They do however make tremendous amounts of money in banking. Most of their "foreign investment" comes from neighboring countries because they're largely considered the "safest" of the Middle Eastern nations, due to their connection with the US. In other words, you know if you put your money there, you don't have to worry about a nuke going off in town.
Now, if you're done vilifying me, read up on the expected longevity of their projects. It's a nation of excess... monetary excess. Also, read up on the conditions of their construction labor. Most of them are from India and Kashmir, and are treated 2x worse than we treat our illegal immigrants.
