3k mile rear tire life

I have an 07' Quattroporte automatically. I drive mostly out of sport mode and
Never did any track days.
I'm now replacing the rear Bridgestone Potenzas after only 3k miles. These are
rated at 340 tread wear.
These same tires wear great on my CLS55 and have over 10k and will probably last another couple thousand.

Anybody on here with the same experience ?

Since I bought the tires in Nov.2012 and constantly check the pressures, I
never looked at the wear pattern.
The dealer called me while they were replacing the toe links to tell me.
I bought the car with 37k miles and was told the Sumitomo's were new.
I always thought they lied to me about the rear tires being new, since I had to replace them after 3k miles. Glad I didn't confront them about it.
I thought by replacing them with Bridgestones, I'd get better results.
Car felt ok with no symptoms of alignment problems, vibrations etc.

ive gone thru a set of rear tires in 3k miles before but that's only if your driving very aggressively. always WOT and gunning it fast from stand stills. if you are not driving like that, go get 4 wheel alignment from someone that knows how to align these type of cars. usually dealer or high end tuner shop will be able to do it, firestone, just tires, Americas tires, etc will not have workers/techs that know what theyre doing.

Better set the record straight.
Since the dealer was more than 100 miles away, I took advantage of their
pickup and delivery service for a factory recall.
When notified that I needed the 2 Bridgestones replaced, I should have
realized that they were less than 6 months old. I gave them the ok to replace them so it was my own stupidity.
I should have rented a car and confronted them.
Needless to say, I won't be using that dealer again.

p.s. I'm reminded of my mistake every time I use the car since they forgot to
install the TPMS sensors I left for them, so I have that trouble code to look
at as a constant reminder.

3k sounds crazy. I do know that the Potenzas are a pretty hard compound and have gotten over 10K miles on 2 sets myself on my QP. The inner wear starts first and isn't noticeable if your just checking the outer tread, but 3k miles sounds like a dealer doing the dealer thing to pay for the 100 mile shipping. And yeah, when they forget to install the sensors, you know that they put your old Bridgestones with 70% wear on one of their used invesntory cars...

Sorry to hear that story Jack. You can get the Oro-Tek replacement sensors that work great for about $50 each. May save you the pain of the $250 each price the dealer would have charged you. ;-)
