AMG Tuners

Your statement is not specific to an incident where they caused a failure as a result of improper modification. It stands to reason anytime a tuner produces more HP there is some risk. You never know how a car has been driven or maintained or what the internal condition is of the components are. What I can say is if anyone can perform the job correctly Renntech can. They understand what they are dealing with and they have direct access to AMG Engineers and code. As this gets more complicated they are needed even more because the codes change all the time on different models. I would be very weary of anyone who claims to have the inside track on the latest AMG codes. The CLK-63 Black has 7,000 pages of code. If anyone can perform the job correctly Hartmut can. There is a lot of trial and error with a bunch of dyno testing. It's no easy job.

I am sending Hartmut my ECU on Tuesday. He has found more areas for improvement and has a new map which he said has made good power gains. 30 HP and Tq but the car run's very strong because of the relation of the torque and horsepower curve. When you can get Tq and Hp in sync rising with the rev's, the motor pulls stronger as it rev's higher. A reverse example of this is the 2002 Porsche turbo. Pulls like a bandit from 3,000 to 5,500 then peters out when the Tq falls off sharply. Hp still gains but it dosen't make any more Tq. Will let you know how the latest software works but as he said I will see a big difference from idle on up. I wouldn't doubt it ! Steve

So does he insert your ecu into another car and then tune off the dyno results?
I'm interested in your results, I've been hoping to find someone to do a "real tune", not a flash that's the same in every 55K engine.

I've previously added a pulley which was good for 50hp and 60tq and I'm adding headers next week.

You dont need to write code to know how to tune.

In your area, I would recommend RPM or Auto Addiction. If you want a baseline tune, they both have you covered. I think RPM also does custom tuning.
hey dynamic thanks for the ref.
