See my previous reply. I know it is difficult for you to think of any other cars with 550 in it. But it actually referred to my F550M and you can find me on ferrarichat as well in case you don't believe it. I am also on MB World and the AMG private lounge because i do own a Black Series and am apparently more well versed in how the car behaves than you are. Instead of wasting your time bashing me and your car, you would be better served bringing it in to be checked out. And in case you haven't heard AMG will provide a dealer installed retrofit for the CLK 63 Black Series only which will allow the transmission to rev match on the down shifts. But being the AMG expert you already are, Im sure you already know that.
ET550, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR CARS !!!
TRUST ME THAT WHAT WE ARE SAYING IS TRUE, IM BRINGING THE CAR FOR SERVICE TO SEE WHATS GOING ON.
BUT ONCE AGAIN, CLK BS IS NOT A TRACK CAR COMPARED TO THE GT3RS
THKS
So tell me where in that video is he having problems with the gearbox shifting into comfort mode to protect itself. All he says is that it didnt downshift once
when he pressed the left paddle (some of the early cars had faulty left paddles which were corrected). Bottom line is he is tracking the car pretty hard with no problems. What is amazing to me is that for someone who claims to have the cars that you do, that you would just assume that whatever you think your car is doing is normal and that you wouldn't take it into to get it checked out. But hey, if you have more money than brains then park the car in the garage and call it a dog all you want.

IM TOTALLY AGREE THAT I NEED THE CAR TO BE CHECK AT THE DEALER, IT NOT A MATTER OF MONEY ITS A MATTER OF WHAT YOU PAY AND THE KIND OF PERFORMANCE YOU GET
HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS
ok please correct me if I am wrong, the 08 CLK63 AMG BLACK SERIES has some kind of software problem and it has been detected and it can be corrected in any MB dealer by making a software download to the gearbox?
I've done over 50 laps in a black series and never had any problems like this at all. I think this is a one off problem because all of the other owners I know who have tracked the car did not have similar problems. You can't expect too much from the transmission. It is an automatic afterall. With that said in M mode and even in sport mode I never had problems with it "protecting". Let us know what happens when you go to the dealer.
No. Your friends car has a problem which needs to be corrected. What I was saying is that the BS transmission, like most autos, does not currently blip the throttle on down shifts. This is not a defect although it is not the greatest set up for the track. However because the new C63 has an improved version of the transmission which does rev match or blip the throttle on downshifts, some of the BS owners requested AMG to engineer a software upgrade to allow the BS to do the same. AMG has agreed and said it will be available early 3rd quarter (i.e June or July) from the dealer. Again this has nothing to do with the problem which you were describing which sounds like a defect particular to your friends car, and everything to do with enhancing the track experience of the BS (which i will repeat has been heavily tracked by many quailfied and experienced drivers without complaint).
I NEVER SAID THAT IN THE VIDEO THEY SAID THAT IT SHIFTS TO CONFORT, I JUST WANTED TO SHOW YOU THAT THE GENERAL COMENT THAT THE GEARBOX IS NOT THE FINEST FOR THIS KIND OF CAR. THERES ANOTHER THING, HE IS DRIVING WITHOUT CONTROLS.... TRY THIS AT THE TRACK WITH A 140K CAR !!!! NOT MY CASE !!!

Hi YS, my dad was having the same problems with his SLK350, that very same day... strangenly as you know my dad has been running the SLK since '06 yet the problem only started late '07, perhaps we started to run faster since mid '07
I was behind you on the 3rd or 4th session and the CLK Black looked awesome you passed me remember, but certainly didn't blast pass me like the other Group 3 cars...
anyhow I hope you resolve the problem, if you do let me know who did it as the local dealer doesn't have a solution for my dad's SLK...
For all others here, I will have full report and photos soon...

CLK 63 AMG Black Series Owners,
Due to the overwhelming feedback of Private Lounge CLK 63 AMG Black Series owners, AMG is currently engineering a solution to retrofit the rev matching downshift programming for the CLK Black Series. This solution should be available via your dealerships by early Q3. We will notify everyone via the AMG Private Lounge once the solution is in place.
Best regards,
AMG Private Lounge Team
Yes. In the AMG Private Lounge site, they arrange a live chat session for an hour with the heads of AMG every 6 weeks or so. The BS owners have been asking them for the upgrade for a few months now. This was the latest reply:

wow thats great
thank you for the info
Considering the problems he has been having with the BS, I doubt he could give you a worthwhile comparison.
I own quite a few cars, the Black Series and the GT3 RS included. Those are the "cheaper" cars in my stable, I love them both, but that is not the point.
However, I also owned the the 997 GT3 and there is a significant difference between it and the RS, when they are pushed the differences become apparent. The RS has faster response, quicker turn in and more solid (lack of sunroof) feel. Rumor has it they also have a different ecu, but all the GT3 owners want to convince themselves that there is no difference (dream on).
But the discussion here is about the Black Series, so let me give you some perspective: I have tracked each car and the Black Series is fantastic on the track. But with me driving that may not count for much, but at least it establishes that I have a little experience about striving for limits.
Fast forward and do "hot laps' with professional drivers and then you begin to see and understand your own limitations and all the things you can't do in a car compared to a true professional.
I have had the pleasure of doing hot laps in the Black Series with Tommy Kendall, and the ability to compare this to hot laps with Hurley Haywood in the GT3 and CGT; and also hot laps in Fiorano in the F430 Challenge. I can safely say that that 99.9999% of drivers out there will never be able to extract the capabilities of the Black Series.
Is it a better car than the RS or F430? Who knows? It is a different car and very track capable, and way beyond the the abilities of the most accomplished amateur (based upon Kendall experience).
By the way I have a strong Porsche bias, and a Ferrari love, but the Black Series (automatic and all) made me sit up and take notice. If you consider current prices the Black Series is the bargain of the moment.
To tout the RS and buy a TT. explain that one!
