I just checked my rear wheels and it turns out I have mismatching rear wheels as well. I suggest all BS owners take a look through the spokes on their rear wheels and check the inner rims. This is obviously not an isolated problem.

YS1978 used his BS with 20" wheels and he didn't had any problems at the track so the rear wheel difference made the computer to go crazy and autoprotec.

Can believe this more BS have different rear wheels incredible from AMG...

Wheels All Match

Checked the wheels on my car (delivered in November 07) and both front and rear wheels are matched sets with the thick hoops visible near the spokes.

Who would have thought. Apparently more people are coming forward now with the same problem as word gets out that they should be checking their wheels. I don't have pictures but they look the same as yours. I have one wheel on the left rear with the lip near the spokes and the other three have smooth barrels until the last couple of inches of the wheels. From what i have learned so far, it appears the wheels with the lip near the spokes were made by Alcoa and the the other wheels were made by Avus. Which wheel was the lighter one when you weighed them? And which one did you have only one of?

Demanding a new wheel is easy. What I want to know is whether i should be demanding three new wheels instead. If there really is a weight difference between the wheels, I am certainly going to want the lighter wheel, and if one of these wheels has been discontinued, i probably will want the newer wheel so i don't have a problem in the future if i need to replace a wheel.

NOW THE CAR IS AMAZING !!!!!

I LOVE THE WAY IT FEELS CORNERING BUT I WOULD LOVE A SEQUENTIAL GEARBOX

UNFORNATELLY HERE IN MEXICO WITH THE ALTITUDE (2400 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL / 7800 FEET) THERE IS A SIGNIFICALY LOST OF POWER AND THE CAR IS HEAVY, BUT THE PERFORMANCE IS GORGEOUS.

After all the discussion about mismatched wheels I went out to the garage and looked at mine.

Here is what I found:

Three different types of the same wheel?

Both rear wheels have the lip away from the spokes like this one:

Left front wheel has the lip close to the spokes like this one:

Right front wheel has NO lip at all! None... Nadda!

Build date was 08/07.

So the Alcoa wheel with the lip near the spokes is heavier?

SAME PROBLEM THAT WE HAVE

I THINK THAT THE BEST IDEA WILL BE TO WRITE TO AMG AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON

I just checked the BS that I am building for a client and they have the step near the spokes on all 4 wheels. We are putting light weight wheels on it anyway but this is a very strange situation to have with a 140K car. What a joke this is and a black eye for AMG unless they can come up with some type of acceptable explanation which I believe to be highly unlikely to satisfy me and any educated owner.
