What You DON'T Want Your S65 To Look Like...
We just got a 2006 S65 in our shop yesterday and I thought I would share some of the pictures of it with you guys. I won't explain the story of the wreck but I will let you know these cars hold up VERY well in a high speed collision. Driver walked away with just a headache and some minor bruises.
Check out the damage to the engine block and suspension and also note all the airbags in these vehicles... http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-003S-7.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-004S-6.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-002S-6.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-001S-6.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-006S-6.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-007S-4.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-008S-3.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-009S-4.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...MVC-011S-6.jpg |

That is one stout car, so it must have been a hell of a crash for it to do that to that car. |

I think the fact that the roof buckled as in that one picture is enough to call it a total loss. I'm not a body guy or structural engineer by any means, but I figure that the structure is now severely compromised.

Do you know at what speed was the impact?

Plus the bottom of the engine block is trashed...but yes, when the roof is also buckled and the doors are overlapping all the way back to the quarter panels you know the frame has taken a serious punch.
-> Torsional stiffness = wet noodle. Amazing that the driver walked away with, from what you are saying, were minor injuries. I remember reading somewhere that if you were going to be in the mother and father of all accidents, to do it in an S-Class. Point well taken. |
